Naked City

Torture Garden is the 1990 album by Naked City, the band that features John Zorn and Yamatsuka Eye of Japanese band Boredoms. While nine of the songs here appeared on Zorn's Naked City album, the remainder appeared on Naked City's own Grand Guidnol. This was released by the Shimmy Disc label.

The nudist village of Cap d'Agde has a sulphurous reputation. The media present it as the place of all excesses, the rendezvous for swingers from all over the world. Beyond the nudist and libertine divide, this film gives us an understanding of the history of this village, the mechanisms that led to its evolution, and a better grasp of those who inhabit this particular world. There is, however, one world that everyone cherishes here: freedom.

Two of TV's most legendary crime series, 'The Untouchables' and 'The Naked City,' both inspired unusual concept albums to help promote their popularity and both are combined on CD for the first time in this new Jasmine Records release–and in their rare stereo versions. For 'The Naked City,' composer George Duning and lyricist Ned Washington came up with a story idea set to original songs, similar to Gordon Jenkins' 'Manhattan Tower' and Judy Garland's 'The Letter,' performed here by James Darren and Jo Ann Greer as two young lovers who meet in New York City. John McIntire narrates the story, with music conducted by Morris Stoloff.

Down By The Naked City is a 1971 album by Japanese jazz quintet The Freedom Unity. This is a remastered version of the album, released on CD in 2009 by Hayabusa Landings/Birdsong.
