Pub rock is the frequently forgotten forefather of punk rock, although on the surface the two genres don't appear to have much in common. Punk rock was about revolution and pub rock was about tradition, at least superficially. But place pub rock in its proper context, and it was nearly as revolutionary as punk. In the early '70s, rock & roll was dominated by heavy metal, art rock, and blues-rock, all genres that required skill. The simple, laid-back three-chord shuffles of pub rock – ranging from straight-ahead rock & roll, to country and blues-rock – didn't require much skill, but it was a working class, do-it-yourself movent that took rock & roll back to its roots, which is essentially what punk rock did.

"The first thing that jumps out at you from the new Soggy Po-Boys record, "All In Favor," is the pep in their pulse. Then comes their tonal palette, the swingin' lines of their horn players and finally the weathered persona of front man Stu Dias, spinning tales and making a solid case for the whole package. These guys have done their homework, worked it out on the bandstand and put in the hours in the studio. It all adds up to a party you can bring with you when you want to treat your friends to a real good time."

The Enid are a British progressive rock band founded in 1973. "Live At The Citadel" is the unplugged performance with the band's original founder Robert John Godfrey. Recorded on a spellbinding evening where the music emanated profound emotions, this performance is a completely unique rendition of just a segment of the band's full repertoire, formed carefully to captivate. This one-off version of the songs - played without drums and bass - allows parts of the music perhaps not noticed before to shine through and creates an extraordinary atmosphere.
