In Unreleased Art, Vol. 3 of the Unreleased Art series, Laurie Pepper unearths yet another unreleased tape of a late-period Art Pepper performance – this time courtesy of an obsessive fan who had access to prime-sounding material. This six-CD set is sure to be of interest to fans of Susan Graham, the phenomenally successful American mezzo-soprano. The recordings, with the exception of just a few tracks from the 1990s, were made between 2000 and 2005, and they reveal Graham in her prime. Five of the discs had previously been released, but one is made up of selections from a variety of sources, including complete opera recordings. The set demonstrates Graham's versatility, both stylistically in the many types of music she sings and in the emotional spectrum that the songs and arias encompass. .

This deluxe release from the classy (but long defunct) Artists House label, as with all of Art Pepper's recordings of his comeback years, is easily recommended. Actually all of the music on So in Love has been reissued in greatly expanded form in Pepper's massive 16-CD Galaxy box set. ~ AllMusic

Mogwai are no strangers to remix albums, having issued Kicking a Dead Pig in 1998. However, with A Wrenched Virile Lore, they offer a set of reworkings that are more cohesive than their previous collection, while still taking the songs from Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will in notably different directions from their origins and from each other. It helps that the band enlisted a cadre of remixers that relate to different aspects of their sound and share a maverick spirit. Not many remix albums would feature a largely acoustic version of a song, but RM Hubbert's whispery reworking of one of HWNDBYW's loudest tracks, "Mexican Grand Prix," works in its own right as well as a challenge to what remixes could or should be…
