The Rest of New Order (stylised as (the rest of) NewOrder) is a remix album by English band New Order, released on 21 August 1995 by London Records. Limited edition of the CD came with an additional bonus disc of "Blue Monday" remixes. This version replaces the white background on the cover with a reflective brown/gold.
Rising from the ashes of the legendary British post-punk unit Joy Division, New Order triumphed over tragedy to emerge as one of the most acclaimed bands of the 1980s; embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.

New Order's first compilation album, Substance (1987), finally broke the group through to commercial success in the U.S. Its second one, The Best of New Order, isn't exactly Substance II. The previous set was a singles collection, and Best Of does pick up that story, including a series of songs - "True Faith" (in a new remix), "Touched by the Hand of God," "Blue Monday 88," "Fine Time," "Round & Round" (in a new remix), "Run," and "World in Motion" - that were bigger hits in the U.K. than in the U.S. (Also included is the group's biggest U.S. hit, "Regret" as well as its charting follow-up, "World [The Price of Love].") But in addition, the compilers have included one song each from the group's albums - "Dreams Never End" from Movement, "Age of Consent" from Power, Corruption & Lies, "Love Vigilantes" from Low-Life, "Vanishing Point" from Technique, and "Ruined in a Day" from Republic…

There have been a few Christy hits collections before, but none like this one. Here, at last, is a comprehensive (75 minutes-plus), single-CD chronicle of the evolution of the New Christy Minstrels beginning with their earliest recordings with founder Randy Sparks in 1962 through the turbulent 'Sixties and ending with a sampling of their first recordings in the next decade. Sequenced in chronological order, the 25 tracks have been carefully chosen to include their biggest hits ("Green Green," "oday," and "Saturday Night"), standout album tracks ("This Land Is Your Land," "Preacher and the Bear," "Juliann," and "Blacksmith of Brandywine"), as well as recordings that represent their best efforts to adapt to changing times ("The Girl from Ipanema," "Highflyin' Bird," and "Funny, Familiar, Forgotten Feelings"). Unlike any other Christy release, this collection features more spotlight solos by some of the biggest talents who passed through the ranks. Of course, you ll hear the voices of the key players who defined the early Christy sound – Randy Sparks, Barry McGuire, Nick Woods, Art Podell and Karen Gunderson – but you'll also hear rare tracks by Bob Buchanan (later a member of The International Submarine Band with Gram Parsons) and a young fellow from Texas by the name of Kenny Rogers. Also, this set includes four Christy tracks that are making their CD debut, including the rare studio recording of "Walk the Road" (their concert opener in '63 and '64) and a beautiful ballad penned by Minstrel Gary Fishbaugh called "Door into Tomorrow." The set is accentuated with rare photos and behind-the-scenes liner notes by Christy historian, Tom Pickles.

HARMONY IN MY HEAD is another of Cherry Red's celebrations of a bygone era - this time, the boom in Power Pop and New Wave which followed the Punk explosion in 1977. This triple-CD box set spins off the success of the 4CD compilation Action Time Vision (2016), which documented Punk on independent labels. New Wave was a term coined in 1977 to describe a clutch of new artists whose music shared much of the energy of punk, but boasted a more sophisticated level of musicianship and a heavier reliance on traditional pop melodies. Although the term had such a wide definition in the States that it was quickly rendered almost meaningless, it was more strictly applied in the UK, with the radio-friendly likes of Elvis Costello and Squeeze scoring numerous hits and influencing younger bands to the extent that, by the early Eighties, the New Wave itself had become Old Wave.

By the time the Brand New Heavies released Shelter in 1997, urban R&B was shifting toward the more organic grooves that they helped pioneer in the early '90s. Although the Heavies were into acid jazz as well, they smoothed over many of the experimental elements of their music in the mid-'90s, leaving behind a seductive, earthy, and jazzy variation of urban soul. That provided the foundation for Shelter, their first album featuring Siedah Garrett as lead singer. Garrett's smooth voice helps push the band toward more conventional territory, yet their songwriting is stronger than most of the contemporaries, and their sound is funkier and more convincing. While there are no standout singles on Shelter, it's a uniformly engaging listen, illustrating that the Brand New Heavies are one of the great underrated urban R&B bands of the '90s.
