Nevermind was never meant to change the world, but you can never predict when the Zeitgeist will hit, and Nirvana's second album turned out to be the place where alternative rock crashed into the mainstream. This wasn't entirely an accident, either, since Nirvana did sign with a major label, and they did release a record with a shiny surface, no matter how humongous the guitars sounded. And, yes, Nevermind is probably a little shinier than it should be, positively glistening with echo and fuzzbox distortion, especially when compared with the black-and-white murk of Bleach.

Das dritte und letzte Studioalbum der amerikanischen Grunge-Legenden wurde erstmals am 21. September 1993 veröffentlicht. The 30th anniversary of Nirvana's "In Utero" is celebrated with an ultimate birthday edition. In addition to the remastered version of the seminal album, previously unreleased live recordings from 1993 and '94 are also included.

Nirvana Voorafgaand aan Nirvana was alternatieve muziek meestal in een aparte afdeling van de muziekwinkels te vinden. Certain concerts create a legend as soon as the final note ceases to ring. Nirvana's headlining appearance at the 1992 Reading Festival is one of these shows, a concert that arrived at precisely the right moment and stands as testament to a band at the peak of its powers…and right before things started to turn sour within the Nirvana camp.

This is one case where the legend really precedes the record itself.
