Anchor Drops is Umphrey's McGee's third studio album, released on June 29, 2004. It is the first studio album to feature drummer Kris Myers. For this album, the band mixed progressive rock with acoustic folk, jam band grooves, heavy metal and electronica. Hamburg-based Estonian oboist Kalev Kuljus earned his music degrees from the Estonian Academy of Music, the Lyon National Conservatory, and the Music University Karlsruhe. He has performed alongside many renowned orchestras, including the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. Kuljus’s repertoire covers music from Baroque to Contemporary, and many Estonian composers have dedicated works to him. This album, Kuljus’s debut, includes some of the most loved oboe concertos from the Baroque era from Vivaldi, Telemann, Bach, and Marcello. Working alongside the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Kuljus sounds at his very best in these recordings.

Philipp Gropper is a German composer and saxophonist of jazz and modern creative style. Ultimately, Philm use Gropper's themes as a way of goading the jazz language to its limits. All four band members are highly sensitised, lashed to a convoluted framework, but frequently escaping into the unpredictable dark corners of improvisation.
