Now That’s What I Call Music celebrate 1973 with a new Yearbook devoted to those 12 months which includes hits from Elton John, Paul McCartney & Wings, Slade, T. Rex, Faces, Billy Joel, Elvis Presley, Marvin Gaye, Fleetwood Mac, Rod Stewart, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and more. As usual you can choose from the 4CD deluxe set in book packaging or a standard card sleeve version. Both offer 83 tracks from 1973 and there’s even room for some David Bowie this time, although perhaps not the track you were expecting. A 3LP vinyl edition offers a cut down 47-track selection and is pressed on red vinyl. Full tracklistings for both formats can be found below. CD1 kicks off with two of the year’s massive #1s – Slade with ‘Skweeze Me, Pleeze Me’, and ‘Angel Fingers’ from Wizzard leading a run of unforgettable Glam Pop and Rock from T.Rex, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Mud, Mott The Hoople and Roxy Music. David Essex scored his second Top 10 hit, and 10cc their third - both feature - plus ballads from Gilbert O’Sullivan, and ‘The Twelfth Of Never’ from Donny Osmond which was another of 1973’s #1s. Disc 1 closes with Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Stylistics, Jackson 5, The Spinners and Timmy Thomas with some of the year’s Soul classics.

Now That’s What I Call Music spotlights 1993 for the next release in their ongoing Yearbook series. This year was actually brilliant, with classics from ’80s’ pop bands who were making it work in the 1990s. In between, there’s songs like Crowded House’s ‘Distant Sun’, R.E.M.’s ‘The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite’, New Order’s ‘Regret’, Paul Weller‘s ‘Wild Wood’, Lenny Kravitz’s ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’, Paul Young’s ‘Now I Know What Made Otis Blue’ and many more. Now That’s What I Call Music will continue their Yearbook ‘Vault’ series next month with 4CD and 3LP vinyl editions of Now Yearbook Vault ’84 which pulls together ‘lesser compiled’ tracks from what is SDE’s favourite year in pop. The 4CD sets (deluxe hardcover book with 28-page track-by-track guide and standard editions) feature 80 tracks, while the 3LP version pressed on blue vinyl 45 songs. The full tracklistings can be found below, but feature plenty of familiar acts with for some less familiar singles. Artists include Heaven 17, ABC, Soft Cell, Culture Club, Level 42, Blancmange, Hazell Dean, Divine, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Malcolm McLaren, Sparks, The Associates, Go-Gos, Donna Summer, Bon Jovi and many more. All formats of Now Yearbook Vault ’84 will be released on 4 October 2024.

Each release in our Yearbook series contains a vinyl edition with a selection of tracks from the complete line-up of the CD version. Inevitably, this means that a large number of fabulous tracks are not included on the LP versions… and we also released a companion CD Extra for each year. At the end of 2022 we released NOW Yearbook 1980 - 1984: Vinyl Extra a 5LP boxset containing one album per year for the period 1980-1984, each with an incredible selection of tracks taken from either Yearbook or the Extra and not previously included on a vinyl edition.
