Two bleak stories about absent love. In the first, a widow is working hard in a desperate attempt to save her dying daughter. The second tells the story of two wandering singers who kidnap a bride from her wedding.

Sono passati cinque anni dalla pubblicazione di “Cassandra muta. Intellettuali e potere nell’Italia senza verità”. È, per molti aspetti, cambiato il mondo. Ma non è venuta meno, nel nostro Paese, l’abdicazione degli intellettuali al loro ruolo di osservatori critici della realtà, indipendenti dal potere. E non è cambiato l’atteggiamento del potere nei confronti dei pochi intellettuali coerenti e rigorosi, considerati, come Cassandra, con fastidio e irritazione. Negli ultimi tre anni la pandemia prima e la guerra poi hanno aggravato la situazione, portandola fino al punto di rottura e al rischio di non ritorno. Gli intellettuali e i media sono sempre più portavoce del potere e quelli che non si allineano alla propaganda sono oggetto di ostracismo, di irrisione, di scherno..

Una poesia muta: Art in early Cinquecento Venice is the result of a collaboration between SWR radio, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and The Marian Consort. Specially curated by the Stuttgart museum, Germany’s first ever exhibition devoted to Vittore Carpaccio and his contemporaries has inspired The Marian Consort to devise an album to accompany this artistic journey. Being one of the most prominent painters of the Early Renaissance in Venice, Carpaccio is likely to have been acquainted with the music and the composers recorded here, since all have strong links to the city at that time. If some of them are well-known today – Josquin, Jean Mouton, Adrian Willaert – others deserve wider recognition. The Marian Consort and its director Rory McCleery have assembled a typically fascinating programme, matched with superb singing.
