Das Buch hat eine riesige Fangemeinde, darunter auch einige sehr skurrile Mitmenschen, die, nicht zuletzt durch das Buch, zu einem gemeinsamen Show-Down geführt werden … Da wären der Cop Wolfie (Thomas Jane), der erst schießt, dann fragt und nach jedem Toten bei dem alkoholabhängigen Priester Paul (Danny Aiello) beichtet. Colette (Kyra Sedgwick), die gerade aus dem Knast entlassen wurde - sie hat das Haus ihres Exmannes angezündet. Aber auch Thumper (David O’Hara und Domenic (Omari Hardwick), zwei Gangster, die etwas schwer von Begriff sind, und der Hardcore-Rapper E-Ruption (Nelly) haben das Buch mit Begeisterung gelesen. Das alles kann Gerald (Sylverster Stallone), der Herausgeber einer Internet-News-Seite, nicht glauben und setzt seinen besten Journalisten Roger (Kevin Conolly) auf die Sache an: Er soll den Autor des Buches als Betrüger entlarven.
