This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Since Almoraima (1976) Paco had not recorded an album which we could call authentically Flamenco. Not like his early recordings, which centred on classic guitar toques as played in concert. On Siroco, he abandons for the moment the sound of The Sextet to mark out in eight pieces the new vanguard of Flamenco creation. A record for lovers of good music, a mature and worthy work.

It is important to highlight that when in the first half of the XVI century the main cities of Nueva Granada Santa Fé, Popayán and Cartagena were founded, these reach the range of bishoprics and the formation of this institutions became under the Spanish doctrine of other cathedrals, mainly those of Seville and Toledo that served as models for the New World. It is logical to understand then that the music that became trained and it executed in the Cathedrals of Latin America it was in the clergymen's hands that exercised the accomplishment of the same ones.
In the fourth number of the series dedicated to The Music of the Past of America, Renaissance Camerata presents the music developed in the Cathedral of Santa Fé of Bogotá starting from the year 1571 for the outstanding composers Gutierre Fernández Hidalgo, Jose´Cascante, Juan de Herrera, Alonso Torices and Matías Durango.

En este disco, dedicado a la música compuesta en el importante Virreinato del Perú se ha querido representar un poco la variedad y riqueza de la composición que allí se hizo. La Cantata “Venid, venid deydades” llamada también Cantata del Cuzco es un bello ejemplo de las obras escritas en Latinoamérica al estilo italiano y su recopilador fue Samuel Claro-Valdés. Luego tenemos algunas obras del genial Juan de Araujo, quien escribe con igual dominio villancicos a dos, tres o cuatro voces en perfecto estilo español, Jocosos juguetes como “Ay andar y andar” o deliciosas negrillas como sus “Coflades”, tal vez la pieza mas conocida del repertorio colonial.
In this disk, dedicated to the music composed in the important Viceroyalty of Peru one has wanted to represent the variety and wealth of the composition a little that there was made. The Cantata "Venid, venid deydades" called Cantata de Cuzco is also a beautiful example of the works written in Latin America to the Italian style and its reporter was Samuel Claro-Valdés. Then we have some works of brilliant Juan of Araujo, who writes with great domain carols to two, three or four voices in perfect style Spanish, Humorous "juguetes" like "Ay andar y andar" or delicious "negrillas" like their "Coflades", perhaps the piece but well-known of the colonial repertoire.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Paco de Lucía’s calling as a concert artist reached previously unexpected heights with this album in which the solo guitar in the hands of the young Paco de Lucía is supported by five of the most important guitarists of the time: his brother Ramón de Algeciras, Enrique Jimenez (from Melchor), Paco Cerero, Isidro Sanlúcar (Muñoz), and Julio Vallejo. This is a concert of ten works conceived after the success of several previous recitals with the same group and Curro de Jerez.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. One of the least well-known of the extensive body of work recorded by the Algeciran, which contains some of the tracks that he would include months later on his 1981 record Solo Quiero Caminar with The Sextet. On two songs he counts on the participation of John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell, both of whom collaborated on a series of virtuoso trio performances, an idea promoted by Paco’s manager, Barry Marshall, towards the end of 1978 (Al di Meola soon took the place of Larry Coryell).
