If I Was a River is the tenth studio album from American singer-songwriter Willie Nile. The all-piano album was released in November 2014 under River House Records. Nile recorded If I Was a River on the same Steinway grand piano that he played the night John Lennon was killed, December 8, 1980. Nile was in Studio "A" at The Record Plant in New York City making Golden Down and John and Yoko were working on Walking on Thin Ice in Studio C that night. If I Was a River has been positively received and has had favorable reviews. Uncut critic Luke Torn wrote: "Intimate, understated gem from New York City's unofficial poet laureate." Pop Matters writer Steve Horowitz writes "Nile knows we have a river of love within that connects us to others…

Considering the three-year delay since Jane Siberry's previous release (which reportedly saw one completed album scrapped altogether), Siberry had obviously gone through some intense soul-searching to determine where her muse was to take her next. Judging by When I Was a Boy, she ended up retreating to some neutral ground that drew on several elements of her previous work without really taking things anywhere new. This is a very personal, introspective album, its intimate textures consistent with the ambient work that production collaborators Brian Eno and Michael Brook were well known for. Even average Siberry was still better than most of what was foisted on the public as female vocalist pop circa this album's release in 1993. It was just that one had come to expect more from her – like surprises and wonder – rather than the sound of treading water.

I Was a King team up with Norman Blake to create their most energetic, homesick and captivating album to date.
Originating from the windswept, moody southwestern coast of Norway, I Was A King are living proof that the sweetest pop songs may be cultivated and thrive in the oddest places. The band is led by singers and guitarists Frode Strømstad and Anne Lise Frøkedal, whose united vocals are said to melt into one extraterrestrial voice.

There Once Was A Night Of "Choko-Muro" The Paradise is the second album by Japanese band Providence. Is a exciting blend of dynamic jazzrock (great guitar and synthesizers) and mellow symphonic rock like early King Crimson (wonderful violin-Mellotron eruptions). The line-up includes a new guitarist and an additional saxophone player. Providence were formed in 1985. For some years around their foundation they had changed the members or produced some demo tapes but they could not appear upon major scene in those days. In 1989 they saw the light with solidifying their members and recording their debut album 'And I'll Recite An Old Myth'…

A Space in Time was Ten Years After's best-selling album. This was due primarily to the strength of "I'd Love to Change the World," the band's only hit single, and one of the most ubiquitous AM and FM radio cuts of the summer of 1971. TYA's first album for Columbia, A Space in Time has more of a pop-oriented feel than any of their previous releases had…

Zito's 16th album is descriptively titled Rock N Roll: A Tribute to Chuck Berry. This release finds him broadening his boundaries still further even as it marks a return to his roots. The album consists of 20 Chuck Berry classics performed by Zito and an impressive array of 21 guest guitarists, among them Joe Bonamassa, Walter Trout, Eric Gales, Robben Ford, Richard Fortus, Sonny Landreth, Luther Dickinson, Albert Castiglia, Anders Osborne, and, significantly, Chuck's grandson, Charlie Berry III.

Anyone who’s read metal reviews for a while knows the two major intro paragraph fallbacks for popular and/or established metal bands. The first is to call them “the AC/DC of [subgenre]” and conveniently using a tautology to describe the sound, i.e. Cannibal Corpse sounds like Cannibal Corpse. The second is invoking the shadow of the band’s crowning achievement and asking rhetorically if the new record will beat it. Entombed A.D. isn’t established enough to be an AC/DC band, and Entombed simpliciter changed their sound more than once. Plus, there’s no agreement on a single crowning achievement—Left Hand Path, Clandestine, and dark horse candidate Wolverine Blues vie for that spot. With no fallbacks at my disposal, I’ll just fall forward into Bowels of Earth.

Midge Ure's career, as fans well know, did not begin or end with Ultravox, and so If I Was: The Very Best of Midge Ure & Ultravox attempts to give an overview of one of '80s' Britain's most popular singers. As a career retrospective goes, however, it's pretty spotty. The Scottish vocalist first found fame with the pop band Slik, who scored a chart topper with "Forever and Ever" in 1976. Unfortunately, you won't find that here, nor its hit follow-up, scored just as a car accident took the band out of the charts. Once recovered, Ure moved on. His first port of call, in 1978, was ex-Pistol Glen Matlock's punk/post-punk supergroup the Rich Kids, who released a single and album, although this compilation draws nothing from this period, either. The following year, with the Kids in disarray, Ure helped form the even more illustrious Visage. Joining him there was Ultravox's Billy Currie and, before the year was out, Ure was fronting two hit-bound bands. Visage gets short shrift here, with Ultravox invariably, if unfairly, better represented. But even this wasn't enough to keep the singer busy. In 1981, as both bands' albums and singles swept up the charts, Ure linked up with Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott for yet another hit, "Yellow Pearl".
