This live album was recorded at OMD's show at the Liverpool Empire on 4th November, the hometown show on the 40th Anniversary Greatest Hits tour.
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark are one of the earliest, most commercially successful, and enduring synth pop groups. Inspired most by the advancements of Kraftwerk and striving at one point "to be ABBA and Stockhausen," they've continually drawn from early electronic music as they've alternately disregarded, mutated, or embraced the conventions of the three-minute pop song. Outside their native England, OMD are known primarily for "Maid of Orleans" and the Pretty in Pink soundtrack smash "If You Leave," yet they scored 18 additional charting U.K. singles in the '80s alone…

Shame is an OMD song first issued on the group's seventh studio album The Pacific Age in 1986, and later re-recorded and issued as their twentieth single in 1987. The song was written by OMD, including the Weir brothers, and the original album track was produced by Stephen Hague, while Rhett Davies was recruited for the re-recorded single version. This was the first time since messages that OMD had completely re-recorded an already issued track for single release.

We are proud to present ’THE BEST ELECTRONIC ALBUM IN THE WORLD… EVER!’ which over 60 tracks includes some of the most influential songs ever recorded. The emergence of the synth pop and dance music exploded in the late 70’s. Dancefloors were changed forever in 1977 when the pulsating and hypnotic ‘I Feel Love’ by Donna Summer showed the way forward, the track is included here alongside synth-driven dance cuts from Lipps Inc and Tom Tom Club and late 70s synth-pop classics from The Buggles and Blondie.
We went and saw OMD back in November at Oxford and they were spectacular! Playing their classics such as… Enola Gay, Electricity, Souvenir, Joan Of Arc and Maid Of Orleans… and their modern greats such as… History Of Modern, Punishment Of Luxury, Isotype and their new single Don’t Go… to their very first b-side Almost! A brilliant cd and reminded me of when we saw them live! Anyone who hasn’t seen them OMD yet, you must see them, you must!!!
