Composer Bear McCreary returned for the second season of the time-travel series Outlander, which moves its setting from Scotland to Paris, France. He provides over an hour more of the show's popular mix of symphonic atmosphere and regional influences here, adding French Baroque music to its purview without giving up the traditional Scottish folk of the first season. Outlander, The Series: Season 2 also offers two new versions of the show's theme song, "The Skye Boat Song," including a French-language rendition sung by Raya Yarbrough. The album continued the show's streak of appearances on the Billboard 200 and Soundtracks chart.

During the reign of the Vikings, Kainan, a man from a far-off world, crash lands on Earth, bringing with him an alien predator known as the Moorwen. Though both man and monster are seeking revenge for violence committed against them, Kainan leads the alliance to kill the Moorwen by fusing his advanced technology with the Viking's Iron Age weaponry.

Primetime Emmy Award winner Bear McCreary is considered to be one of the most versatile composers in the industry. Outlander has been nominated for five Golden Globes and McCreary has received an Emmy Award nomination for ‘Outstanding Music Composition for a Series’. McCreary is recognized for his soundtrack for the hit film 10 Cloverfield Lane. For his score, Time Magazine raved “The movie’s finest feature may be Bear McCreary’s playfully malicious score, a beehive of worried-sounding strings that channels the spirit of Hitchcock fave Bernard Herrmann.”
