The Office of Tenebrae was extremely popular in France in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was tightly structured and also had a true theatrical dimension, notably through the use of light and the gradual extinguishing of a candle after each lesson.

In the aftermath of the 20th century, it seems that Berlioz’s old prophecy has been finally fulfilled. He saw in the saxophone the spring of sound of “unheard of effects until now”. Furthermore, unlike other instruments of more deep-rooted tradition, the saxophone is open nowadays to many and unsuspected possibilities. Good evidence of this claim is the program brought together here by Angel Soria. Six recent pieces within a time period of two decades (the oldest one goes back to the year 2000), written by composers of different aesthetics (despite all of them belonging to what it is generally called the avant-garde), define the plurality of the aesthetic and expressive options offered by the saxophone. The “truth” of the saxophone is neither unequivocal nor one-dimensional. Instead, it includes many truths that reflect, in a wide range, the complexity of the current times.

Excellent collection of the early albums of Paco De Lucía, released from the spanish label Iberica Logos Music in 2003. From the 12 albums of the collection, 6 contain duets, 3 with flamenco guitarist Ricardo Modrego and 3 with Paco's brother, Ramon De Algeciras (1938-2009), also popular flamenco guitarist, permanent member of the Paco de Lucía Sextet. Young Paco (18 yo in 1965) is already a guitar phenomenon, a "fuera de serie", and he performs with vigor, technique and virtuosity, 134 guitar classics often backed by orchestra and percussions. All CDs include booklets with detailed information on the artists and the content. Enjoy an invaluable collection by the great master.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. 1971 was without doubt a singular year in the recording career of Paco de Lucía. Far from trying to travel new paths alone, Paco preferred to record an album brimming with Flamenco inspiration with all of its ingredients: vocal, toque and dance.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Paco de Lucía’s calling as a concert artist reached previously unexpected heights with this album in which the solo guitar in the hands of the young Paco de Lucía is supported by five of the most important guitarists of the time: his brother Ramón de Algeciras, Enrique Jimenez (from Melchor), Paco Cerero, Isidro Sanlúcar (Muñoz), and Julio Vallejo. This is a concert of ten works conceived after the success of several previous recitals with the same group and Curro de Jerez.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Paco de Lucía wanted to highlight his capacity as both composer and interpreter in this 1972 album, evoking with the title the duende —the name Flamenco artists give to the power that comes from within. There are ten extraordinary tracks, some with orchestral arrangements by Paco and Torregrosan —transcriber of the score for Paco de Lucía's work in the early years of his career—, here responsible for the musical direction and the arrangements. For the first time the sound engineer is credited: José Díaz Auñón. The inclusion of an orchestra was at Paco’s own request, although it seemed he wasn’t totally satisfied with the results.
