This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. Recorded in 1973, this album signified a leap in the popularity of Paco de Lucía. With this recording, a new cycle of his career began. The Algeciran found himself at a level of technical and stylistic perfection never previously reached by any Flamenco artist. As much in creative as interpretative terms the level of maturity of the young guitarist brought to fruition an astonishing array of means of expression.

This collection is a unique tour of the work of Paco de Lucia from 1964 to 2004. For a Flamenco artist, the opportunity to play in the Royal Theatre (Teatro Real) in Madrid, that temple of classical music, represents an important goal in an artistic career. Paco de Lucía achieved this and more by marking the first of these dates with the recording of his first live album. The album shows off a range of Flamenco styles, with his older brother Ramón de Algeciras on second guitar. As each song selected for the occasion is in a different style, together they are like a summary of his creative trajectory up to this point.

On a large estate close to the city of his birth, Algecirans celebrate a particular saint’s day, which gives the title to this solo album by Paco de Lucía. Perhaps this is one of the albums that has had most impact on the young generations of Flamenco performers and creators of the last decades. For many this was the culmination of a process that coincided with the arrival of democracy to Spain.

The unforgettable Paco De Lucia, has recorded many albums with other guitar artists, among them with his compatriots and friends, the virtuosi Paco Pena and Ramon De Algeciras. This excellent double album, unites two LP's: "Paco De Lucia y Paco Pena - Paco Doble" of 1969 and "Paco De Lucia y Ramon De Algeciras - Dos Guitarras Flamencas en America Latina" of 1967. You will find 26 amazing performances of classic tunes in arrangements for two flamenco guitars and percussions. Definitely one of the most beautiful gems of guitar duets around. Enjoy.

In memory of Paco de Lucía (21 December 1947 - 26 February 2014). RIP Paco…

John McLaughlin & Paco de Lucia: Paco and John - Live at Montreux 1987 it's truly a shame that, all too often, artists with diverse careers become pigeon-holed, defined by the primary genre in which they first achieved notoriety. Take guitarist John McLaughlin, for instance. Ask most jazz fans about him and what will first come out of most of their mouths will include either the words "fusion," "jazz-rock" and/or Miles Davis, in any permutation/combination (not that there's anything wrong with that). Those a little further in the know might also be aware of his longstanding investigation into the nexus of eastern and western music with his Indo-collaboration, Shakti.

Two of the early albums of unforgettable Paco are combined in this outstanding CD from the Spanish label "Iberica Logos Music": "Zyryab" released in 1990, performed with his sextet and named after Ziryab, a 9th-century, Shiraz-born poet/musician at the Umayyad court in Cordoba, credited with introducing to Spain the Persian lute, later to become the Spanish guitar, and the earlier "Siroco", where De Lucia plays essentially solo compositions based on pure flamenco, though with a virtuosity and reach that belong in a concert hall rather than in the traditional settings. A "must-have" masterpiece for all Paco De Lucia's fans.

Paco Sala return with a fifth full length album. The Silent Season is the net result of a full tibiofemoral dislocation, a lot of surgery, a lot of really heavy drugs, a seemingly open-ended period of housebound isolation & a subsequent hazy regression to roots and influences. The Silent Season is a fever-dream, embodying the period of physical stasis & marking a shift from the outsider pop structures of previous releases. Here instead the duo employ delirious, morphing synth structures intertwined with semi-lucid samples and haunting vocals.

Since Almoraima (1976) Paco had not recorded an album which we could call authentically Flamenco. Not like his early recordings, which centred on classic guitar toques as played in concert. On Siroco, he abandons for the moment the sound of The Sextet to mark out in eight pieces the new vanguard of Flamenco creation. A record for lovers of good music, a mature and worthy work.

A limited edition of the Camaron de la Isla 'Integral' box-set. It represents a veritable journey through his life and singing. It includes 21 original albums. The first 17 of them were made in recording studios by Camaron from 1969 to 1992 while he was alive. "The record itself marks a break with the previous ones in that the entertaining kitsch style of the cover disappears, to be replaced by a picture taken by Lamarca". But Jose Monje -who would not integrate with anybody- committed the audacity of challenging the established flamencologists right after they had given him their approval, by daring to present in his next project nothing less than a new style of flamenco «cante»: «La Canastera».
