The band was born in September 2005, when Claudio Colombo (drummer) decided to start a musical project with keyboardists Beppe Colombo and Corrado Grappeggia. At first, their main inspiration came from the progressive rock of the 1970s - they wrote their own music drawing from groups such as Genesis, Yes, P. F. M, New Trolls, etc… So, Pandora began as a group dedicated to the composition of progressive pieces - giving life first to large pieces that espouse fantasy and research sounds and melodies. They show the harmony of a group that combines the emergence of Beppe's experience, the musical culture and composition of Corrado, and the talent of Claudio. In 2008, the group registered their first CD entitled "Dramma di un Poeta Ubriaco "; it contains original songs that represent the path of Pandora's project…
Roberto Gerhard (1896-1970) is one of just a handful of 20th-century Spanish composers to have successfully emerged from the imposing shadow of Manuel de Falla. Gerhard's four symphonies have none of Falla's romanticism and all of the postmodern gadgetry available to any composer daring enough to use them. No languorous, moody themes; no comfortable–or comforting–structure to lull the listener: just a concatenation of brilliant expressions and marvelous conflicting ideas, chaos and noise to some, enchantment to others.
Sleeping Pandora is a project established by Berlin based guitarist Mathias Rosmann. Since some years now he's exclusively operating on solo paths. Very productive, as 'All The Way' represents the sixth studio album so far. A significant trademark is the somewhat hypnotic chillout mood in general, a perfect scope for his typical echo respectively reverb guitar performance he's known for. This, with good reason, includes several Kosmische Musik reminiscences, akin to the likes of Günter Schickert, Manuel Göttsching, or Achim Reichel if you will.
