Death on the Nile is a 2022 mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie.Scottish composer and actor Patrick Doyle has written music for and appeared in several of Kenneth Branagh's films. Before coming to films, Doyle received his education at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. In 1981, he appeared in his debut feature, Chariots of Fire (1981). He began his association with Branagh in 1987 when he joined the Renaissance Theatre Company. There Doyle composed music, served as musical director and acted in Branagh's productions. He began composing film scores in 1989 with Henry V. He has since worked steadily in films, both as an actor and a composer.

Sony Masterworks will release the official soundtrack album for Kenneth Branagh’s new movie adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Patrick Doyle (Sense and Sensibility, Cinderella, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Thor, Brave). The soundtrack will be released on November 3, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Murder on the Orient Express stars Branagh, alongside Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Marwan Kenzari and Olivia Colman. The movie based on Agatha Christie’s novel will be released in theaters nationwide on November 10 by 20th Century Fox.

On Some Like it Plucked harpsichordist, organist and conductor Patrick Ayrton successfully combines jazz and 20th century piano pieces in arrangements for harpsichord. Ayrton's ensemble Les Inventions and violinist Thomas Gould join in for the pièce de résistance of this album: Joseph Horovitz' 1965 Jazz Harpsichord Concerto. In this highly entertaining concerto, Horovitz ingeniously crosses Vivaldian sonata and concerto forms with Gershwinian harmonies in what the composer describes himself as “an attempt to fuse Baroque structures into a modern conception of swing texture”.
