Born in 1941, Eric Burdon was – along with his band The Animals – one of the most important standard bearers of the British Invasion of America, right after The Beatles and ahead of The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks. Their 1964 interpretation of House of the Rising Sun was a global hit and inspired Bob Dylan (who recorded an acoustic version on his first album) to go electric and hit the stage from then on backed by a rock band.

This BAFTA award-winning BBC Arena documentary is the story of a man who had a hand in changing the world. His discovery of the Beatles burst open the door to a British invasion of pop and rock musicians the United States has not seen since. In the process, Epstein's life was changed dramatically. By 1963 he had become the most successful pop manager in history, with clients like the Beatles, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer or the Dakotas dominating the United States pop charts in the number one spot for 37 weeks that year.

When Epstein met the Beatles at the end of 1961, he was a successful retailer in a Jewish family business. In 1963 - his first year in pop music - his acts occupied the No 1 spot in the charts for 37 weeks. With contributions from Paul McCartney, Marianne Faithfull, Billy J Kramer and George Martin.

In a career stretching 50 years, legendary music producer Phil Spector has avoided a substantial interview - until now.
Spector transformed rock and roll, becoming the first music producer to be a star in his own right. He gave the world "Be My Baby", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" and John Lennon's "Imagine", and soundtracked a generation. Accused of murdering 40-year-old Los Angeles nightclub hostess Lana Clarkson, his trial in September 2007 ended dramatically in a hung jury. The trial reopens in October 2008 and threatens to eclipse his musical legacy for a second time.

John Pilger's first film, The Quiet Mutiny, made in 1970 for the British current affairs series World in Action, broke the sensational story of insurrection by American drafted troops in Vietnam. In his classic history of war and journalism, The First Casualty, Phillip Knightley describes Pilger's revelations as among the most important reporting from Vietnam. The soldiers' revolt – including the killing of unpopular officers – marked the beginning of the end for the United States in Indo-China.
