Though it was released to coincide with the opening of the film One-Trick Pony, which Paul Simon wrote and starred in, the One-Trick Pony album is not a soundtrack, as it is sometimes categorized, at least, not exactly. If it were, it might contain the Paul Simon song "Soft Parachutes" and other non-Simon music featured in the movie. Instead, this is a studio album containing many of the movie songs, some of them in the same performances (two were cut live at the Agora Club in Cleveland). The record is not billed as a soundtrack, but a sleeve note reads, "The music on this Compact Disc was created for the Paul Simon Movie 'One-Trick Pony'"…
This 1997 album presents material from the Simon-composed Broadway musical The Capeman, chronicling the life of convicted Puerto Rican street hoodlum Salvador Agrón. The production starred Marc Anthony and Ruben Blades, whose performances are featured here.

Even being quite a Simon and Garfunkel fan, and a keen follower of Paul Simon's solo career, wasn't enough to convince me that Paul Simon could cut it live without "Artie". Sure, I have enough of his solo albums to know that he can still write great songs, but a live Paul Simon solo performance is something I have never been overly interested in seeing. Fortunately, the man surprised me with his ability to put on a good show, and by the time he was really rocking, so was I. Paul Simon - You're The One: In Concert was filmed at Music Hall Paris Capucines, Theatre De l'Olympia October 30 and 31, 2000 and combines the best of each performance.
