Although finding mainstream success with the release of Sweet Oblivion, and the single Nearly Lost You from the soundtrack to Cameron Crowes’s film Singles, the Screaming Trees’ history goes back to 1985, predating many of their Grunge-era, Seattle peers.

The story of Seattle's rise to global rock supremacy in the late '80s and early '90s begins with Green River. Made up of Jeff Ament (bass), Mark Arm (guitar/vocals), Bruce Fairweather (guitar), Stone Gossard (guitar), and Alex Shumway (drums), the quintet put out three 12"s and a 7" single during its brief existence. Green River's influence on Seattle's music scene spread far and wide thanks to the members' dispersion into bands including Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, and Love Battery, as well as the punk-glam-sludge-rock songs they left behind.

The vibrant powerhouse trio known as The Winery Dogs. Richie Kotzen, Mike Portnoy, and Billy Sheehan, have had success with other bands. Guitarist/Vocalist Kotzen is known as a former member of Poison and Mr. Big: bassist Sheehan is known for playing with Steve Vai, David Lee Roth, and also Mr. Big; while Portnoy was the original drummer of many groups including Dream Theater, Sons of Apollo and Adrenaline Mob.

The set includes tracks recorded both at the beginning and at the peak of his career, showcasing his critically acclaimed flat-picking guitar style. In 1958 Sims played with Benny Goodman at Expo ‘58 in Brussels, where he met the Viennese-born Hans Koller, then Europe’s coolest tenor sax.. Two years earlier Sims had made a Blue Note recording with the German pianist Jutta Hipp and he was keen to meet other European jazz musicians. So Jo Berendt, head of the jazz department at the then SWF, invited the two to a studio concert, supplementing the horn section with Adi Feuerstein and Gerd Husemann (fl , ts), Willie Dennis (tb) and Helmut Brandt (bs).; The ensemble also featured Hans Hammerschmid on piano, Peter Trunk on bass and on drums Kenny Clarke, who had quit the Modern Jazz Quartet and moved to Paris.

Pearl Mae Bailey (March 29, 1918 – August 17, 1990) was an American actress and singer. After appearing in vaudeville she made her Broadway debut in St. Louis Woman in 1946. She received a Special Tony Award for the title role in the all-Black production of Hello, Dolly! in 1968. In 1986, she won a Daytime Emmy award for her performance as a fairy godmother in the ABC Afterschool Special Cindy Eller: A Modern Fairy Tale.
