Perfct Strangers

Antonio is an Italian working without papers at a Manhattan restaurant and meets Ellen while explaining to her date that carbonara isn't made with garlic. Apu, a naturalized Indian also working at the restaurant, is preparing to meet his arranged bride, Devi. Just as Ellen and Antonio appear to be creating a steady relationship, she drops the bombshell that she's leaving for Paris. Meanwhile, immigration officials are closing in on Antonio, and Apu and Devi are trying to work out an arrangement that will let him be a modern guy while not offending Devi's traditional values…

An English couple holiday in Venice to sort out their relationship. There is some friction and distance between them, and we also sense they are being watched. One evening, they lose their way looking for a restaurant, and a stranger invites them to accompany him. He plies them with wine and grotesque stories from his childhood. They leave disoriented, physically ill, and morally repelled. But, next day, when the stranger sees them in the piazza, they accept an invitation to his sumptuous flat. After this visit, the pair find the depth to face questions about each other, only to be drawn back into the mysterious and menacing fantasies of the stranger and his mate.

In 2010, rock band The National were about to embark on the biggest tour of their career. After ten years as a band, and five critically acclaimed albums, they were finally enjoying wider recognition. Lead singer Matt Berninger invited his younger brother, Tom, to join the tour's crew. A budding horror filmmaker, Tom - who is nine years younger than Matt and listens exclusively to heavy metal - decided to bring his camera along. Tom's at sea in the world of indie rock, and living in his brother's shadow brings out the younger sibling in him - he drinks, complains, and struggles to balance his ambition with his tour responsibilities. The result is a film about brothers and about making something of your own.
