Peter Bernstein Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein was born September 3, 1967, in New York City. He got his first break while attending the New School when he met Jim Hall, who recruited him for a concert of guitarists as part of the 1990 JVC Jazz Festival in New York. The show was recorded by MusicMasters and issued as Live at Town Hall, Vol. 2. Bernstein quickly began playing with other jazz musicians, notably appearing on albums by Lou Donaldson, Michael Hashim, Larry Goldings, Mel Rhyne, Jesse Davis, and Geoff Keezer. He recorded his first album as a leader, Somethin's Burnin', for Criss Cross in December, 1992, as part of quartet with pianist Brad Mehldau, bassist John Webber, and drummer Jimmy Cobb.

Released back in 1966, Winnetou and Old Firehand aka. Thunder at the Border put an end to the Karl May film adaptions by Horst Wendlandt’s Rialto Film company. Alfred Vohrer (Perrak…), a “genius” according to legendary director Quentin Tarantino, brought the film away from comfy German Western towards a more violent form of Spaghetti Western.

Britten's first great opera, written in 1945, remains a touchstone not only for postwar opera, but also anticipates the direction that postmodern music would take later in the century. Written at a time when high modernism was in full swing, Britten bucked the trends by taking a personal, political and musically eclectic approach. It's a small story with great ramifications: A sadistic fisherman and his violent actions turn him into the bane of his community, resulting in his suicide.

Peter René Körner wurde am 08.12.1921 in Berlin geboren. Der Vater war Theaterdirektor, die Mutter Schauspielerin, die Schwester Operettensängerin - das Showbusiness war im quasi in die Wiege gelegt. Peter besuchte die Schauspielschule und es folgten erste Engagements. 1946 bekam er eine Festanstellung beim NWDR in Köln als Sprecher. 1948 sang er erste Chansons im Kabarett des Kölner Senders.

Invited by Deutsche Grammophon to reinterpret Bach’s six cello suites for their Recomposed series, cellist/composer Peter Gregson has come up with beautiful tributes to these 18th-century masterpieces. Following each movement’s natural harmonic curve and rhythm, Gregson explores different approaches, using electronic effects that ripple beneath Bach’s lines (the first movement of Suite No. 5) or taking single bars, transforming them into minimalist gems. Elsewhere, he plays alongside a small cello ensemble, creating playful dances and sumptuous textures. Sometimes, as with the Menuet from Suite No. 1 or the Sarabande from No. 5, Gregson barely touches Bach’s original notes—an homage to the music’s timelessness.
