Second Harmonic Current Reduction Techniques for Single-Phase Power Electronics Converter Systems

Second Harmonic Current Reduction Techniques for Single-Phase Power Electronics Converter Systems by Xinbo Ruan
English | PDF,EPUB | 2022 | 304 Pages | ISBN : 9811915466 | 93 MB

Two-stage single-phase converters, including two-stage single-phase dc-ac inverters and two-stage single-phase PFC converters, are interfacing power converters between dc and ac voltage/current sources, which have been widely applied for dc-ac and ac-dc power conversion. For the two-stage single-phase converter, the ac-side power pulsates at twice the ac voltage frequency, resulting in second harmonic current (SHC) which might flow into the dc-dc converter, the dc voltage source, and dc load.

Phase Space Dynamics in Plasma Based Wakefield Acceleration by Xinlu Xu
English | PDF,EPUB | 2020 | 138 Pages | ISBN : 9811523800 | 30.7 MB

This book explores several key issues in beam phase space dynamics in plasma-based wakefield accelerators. It reveals the phase space dynamics of ionization-based injection methods by identifying two key phase mixing processes. Subsequently, the book proposes a two-color laser ionization injection scheme for generating high-quality beams, and assesses it using particle-in-cell (PIC) simulations.

Basic Simulation Models of Phase Tracking Devices Using MATLAB by William Tranter

The Phase-Locked Loop (PLL), and many of the devices used for frequency and phase tracking, carrier and symbol synchronization, demodulation, and frequency synthesis, are fundamental building blocks in today's complex communications systems. It is therefore essential for both students and practicing communications engineers interested in the design and implementation of modern communication systems to understand and have insight into the behavior of these important and ubiquitous devices. Since the PLL behaves as a nonlinear device (at least during acquisition), computer simulation can be used to great advantage in gaining insight into the behavior of the PLL and the devices derived from the PLL.

Decca/London introduced Phase 4 Stereo in 1961. For classical music, the Phase 4 approach was based on miking every orchestra section individually, along with mics for selected instruments – up to a maximum of 20 channels, which were then mixed via a recording console. This resulted in a dynamic, in your face sound with relatively little hall ambience. The quality of the sound mostly depended on how skillfully the recording engineer balanced each channel – and the results were not always consistent. Thus, the Phase 4 sound was the antithesis of the minimally miked, “simplicity is wisdom” approach of the RCA’s early Living Stereo and Mercury’s Living Presence recordings, along with Telarc’s early digital recordings.

X-Ray Phase-Contrast Tomography: Underlying Physics and Developments for Breast Imaging

X-Ray Phase-Contrast Tomography: Underlying Physics and Developments for Breast Imaging by Luca Brombal
English | PDF,EPUB | 2020 | 150 Pages | ISBN : 3030604322 | 61.85 MB

X-ray imaging is a corner stone of breast cancer diagnosis. By exploiting the phase shift of X-rays rather than their attenuation, phase-contrast tomography has the potential to dramatically increase the visibility of small and low contrast features, thus leading to better diagnosis. This thesis presents research on the first synchrotron-based project developing a clinical phase-contrast breast computed tomography (CT) setup at Elettra, the Italian Syncrotron Radiation Facility.
Materials Phase Change PDE Control & Estimation: From Additive Manufacturing to Polar Ice

Materials Phase Change PDE Control & Estimation: From Additive Manufacturing to Polar Ice by Shumon Koga
English | PDF,EPUB | 2020 | 355 Pages | ISBN : 3030584895 | 38 MB

This monograph introduces breakthrough control algorithms for partial differential equation models with moving boundaries, the study of which is known as the Stefan problem. The algorithms can be used to improve the performance of various processes with phase changes, such as additive manufacturing. Using the authors' innovative design solutions, readers will also be equipped to apply estimation algorithms for real-world phase change dynamics, from polar ice to lithium-ion batteries.
