Sustainable Agriculture Reviews 41: Nanotechnology for Plant Growth and Development by Shamsul Hayat
English | EPUB | 2020 | 223 Pages | ISBN : 3030339955 | 13 MB

This book presents recent developments involving the role of nanoparticles on plant physiology and growth. Nanotechnology applications include improvement of agricultural production using bio-conjugated NPs (encapsulation), transfer of DNA in plants for development of insect pest-resistant varieties, nanoformulations of agrochemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers for crop improvement, and nanosensors/nanobiosensors in crop protection for identification of diseases and residues of agrochemicals. Recent findings on the increased use of nanotechnology in agriculture by densely populated countries such as China and India indicate that this technology may impart a substantial impact on reducing hunger, malnutrition, and child mortality.

Secondary Metabolites and Volatiles of PGPR in Plant-Growth Promotion

Secondary Metabolites and Volatiles of PGPR in Plant-Growth Promotion by R. Z. Sayyed, Virgilio Gavicho Uarrota
English | PDF,EPUB | 2022 | 385 Pages | ISBN : 3031075587 | 30.9 MB

This contributed volume explores how plant growth-promoting rhizobacterias (PGPR) provide a wide range of benefits to the plant. Further, it discusses the key roles PGPR play in nutrient acquisition and assimilation, improved soil texture, secreting, and modulating extracellular molecules. The book outlines how plant secondary metabolites are natural sources of biologically active compounds used in a wide range of applications, and surveys the significant role of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in plant communication by mediating above- and below-ground interactions between plants and the surrounding organisms.

Basic Growth Analysis: Plant growth analysis for beginners

Basic Growth Analysis: Plant growth analysis for beginners by Roderick Hunt
English | PDF | 1990 | 119 Pages | ISBN : 0044453736 | 9.9 MB

This handbook is intended as an introductory guide to students at all levels on the principles and practice of plant growth analysis. Many have found this quantitative approach to be useful in the description and interpretation of the performance of whole plant systems grown under natural, semi-natural or controlled conditions. Most of the methods described require only simple experimental data and facilities. For the classical approach, GCSE biology and mathematics (or their equivalents) are the only theoretical backgrounds required. For the functional approach, a little calculus and statistical theory is needed. All of the topics regarding the quantitative basis of productivity recently introduced to the Biology A-level syllabus by the Joint Matriculation Board are covered. The booklet replaces my elementary Plant Growth Analysis (1978, London: Edward Arnold) which is now out of print. The presentation is very basic indeed; the opening pages give only essential outlines of the main issues. They are followed by brief, standardized accounts of each growth-analytical concept taken in turn. The illustrations deal more with the properties of well-grown material than with the effects of specific environmental changes, even though that is where much of the subject's interest lies. However, detailed references to the relevant parts of more comĀ prehensive works appear throughout, and a later section on 'InterĀ relations' adds perspective. Some 'Questions and answers' may also help to show what topics will arise if the subject is pursued further.
