Although marketed as a surf band, Minnesota's Trashmen were decidedly landlocked by geography, but not by spirit. The group's odd mix of surf, R&B, sneering garage pop, and psychotic instrumentals made them one of the most eccentric and interesting of the groups that sprang up around the surf craze of the early '60s. This delightful collection of rare live tracks shows the kind of offhand, humorous dementia that they channeled into their shows, climaxing in a near six-minute version of their wacky masterpiece, the manic "Surfin' Bird."

Essentially, Hammond Bond is a re-release of the 1966 album From Twen with Love by German organist Ingfried Hoffmann, who was a member of Klaus Doldinger's band in the '60s. The new title (which is given the tagline "Ingfried Hoffmann plays jazz for secret agents" on the CD cover) emphasizes the fact that the original album was released to benefit from the first James Bond craze, but it makes the album appear to be more of a novelty record than it really is: From Twen with Love (the original title references the second James Bond movie, of course, and the Philips Twen label where it was first published) is an organ jazz album very much in the vein of the soul-jazz recordings popular during this time…

There are few World film composers that can boast the prolificacy of Piero Piccioni. Since the early 1950s Piccioni has been a truly innovative composer of film music. In the 1950s he composed under the pseudonym of Piero Morgan, and since his first soundtrack Il Mondo Le Condanna of 1952, many directors sought Piero Piccioni to score the soundtracks for their films: Luchino Visconti, Bernardo Bertolucci, Vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini, Elio Petri, Francesco Rosi, Mario Monicelli, Alberto Lattuada, Alberto Sordi, Luigi Comencini, Antonio Pietrangeli, Lina Wertmuller, Tinto Brass, Dino Risi, are just some of the great directors for whom he scored more than 300 wondrous soundtracks. Swept Away, Le Mani sulla città’, Camille 2000, Colpo Rovente, The 10th Victim, Amore mio aiutami, More Than a Miracle, The Light at the Edge of the World, Puppet on a Chain, Lucky Luciano, Cristo si è Fermato a Eboli, Anna Karenina, Finché c’è guerra c’è speranza, Viaggio con papà, Fumo di Londra are just a few gems among many more. With great versatility, Piccioni incorporates jazz, funk, fusion, bossa, classical and contemporary 20th Century symphonic elements into his kaleidoscopic sounds which have been the lush sonic backdrop for everything from psychedelic, political, thriller, horror, romantic, comedy, western, classic novel adaptations, mythological, historic and epic film productions of the golden age of Italian and international cinema spanning four decades.

The aforementioned roster is odd in that the artists are almost all relative unknowns to just about anyone but the most dedicated scholars of Baltimore's soul scene. One possible exception is the legendary Arthur Conley, who rose to fame in 1967 with the classic "Sweet Soul Music". Prior to that massive hit, Conley recorded a handful of music for Ru-Jac, including the single "I'm a Lonely Stranger" in 1964 (bringing him to the attention of Otis Redding), but the only two Conley recordings included here are demo takes of "Whole Lotta Woman" and "Hiding Out in Blue Shadows". It's refreshing to note that this collection is heavy on demos and alternate takes, giving it a real "digging through the vault" feel.

2017 release. Aquarian Blood is a crew of six (sometimes seven) Memphis degenerates from assorted generations playing hypnotic, synthy tracks whose main ruminations are cults, the paranormal, and other obscurities-whirlwind, weirdo punk soaked in the brain-goo pouring out of the ears of an acid freak. Led by husband and wife duo JB Horrell (Ex-Cult, Moving Finger) and Laurel Ferdon (Nots, Moving Finger), the project began as bedroom recordings that yielded two now out-of-print tapes of total trippiness on the ZAP cassette label, and one completely unhinged monster of a single on Goner. Last Nite In Paradise is their debut album.

The PHIL KEAGGY 2-CD reissue containing three full albums–his 1980 album " PH'LIP SIDE ," his 1981 album " TOWN TO TOWN ," and his 1982 album " PLAY THRU ME "–on two CDs. Wonderful production work, still sounds amazing now.
