Janina Duszeiko, ex ingegnere, astrologa e vegetariana, vive in un piccolo e pittoresco villaggio nelle montagne dei Sudeti. Una notte, si imbatte in un corpo morto vicino alla sua abitazione. La vittima è un bracconiere morto in circostanze misteriose. Col tempo, nella zona vengono rinvenuti altri cadaveri di gente nota: erano tutti cacciatori che secondo Janina sono stati uccisi da animali selvatici. Di fronte a un ulteriore ritrovamento, Janina diviene la principale sospettata della polizia e il susseguirsi degli eventi non lascia ulteriori dubbi agli agenti.
