Their 2nd album on Columbia Records, Head to the Sky was EWF's first commercially successful album and it has been certified platinum in the United States for sales of over a million copies. The second album from Oxfordshire-based singer-songwriter Megan Henwood is going to cause problems for anyone who likes their new music to fit into neat little boxes. Henwood has worked on the album with her brother, Joe, with whom she won the BBC's Young Folk Award in 2009, but while Head, Heart, Hand taps in to various long-standing musical traditions, it's not a record you can simply label as "folk". The painstakingly crafted songs recall soul, blues and pop styles, while the careful and precise production is the result of the Henwoods' collaboration with producer Tom Excell, whose background is in electronic music.

Head Hunters was a pivotal point in Herbie Hancock's career, bringing him into the vanguard of jazz fusion. Hancock had pushed avant-garde boundaries on his own albums and with Miles Davis, but he had never devoted himself to the groove as he did on Head Hunters. Drawing heavily from Sly Stone, Curtis Mayfield, and James Brown, Hancock developed deeply funky, even gritty, rhythms over which he soloed on electric synthesizers, bringing the instrument to the forefront in jazz.

'Head First' is the fifth studio album from British electronic group Goldfrapp. Having wandered into the realms of pagan folk for their highly-acclaimed 2008 release 'Seventh Tree', the band have once again drawn from the synthpop style of 2005's 'Supernature', while maintaining much of 'Seventh Tree's subtle nature. Alison Goldfrapp's vocals are as heavenly and bright as ever, while the synths of Will Gregory compliment her perfectly, as evident on anthemic single 'Rocket'.
