Writer Joshua Ortega indeed improves on the narrative flow but it is the artwork of Mel Rubi that stands out. Literally as bloody good as ever. Also immediately obvious is the fact that Red Sonja's chain mail bikini has now become a micro string chain mail bikini. From a hundred or so interlocking rings her front loin flap now sports at most twenty-five, and the once approximately thirty rings covering each of her breasts are now reduced to a perfect triangle of nine rings each. I suppose in those ancient times the higher a female warrior goes up the ranks of nobility the smaller, and lesser her body covering becomes. Not that we're complaining. In fact we hope to see those loin flaps flap more often (I won't say anything about Jackson Herbert's cover in issue #1 nor about Fabiano Neves' raised back loin flap in the current issue #12, both featured above--oops!).
