Essentially, the 2007 release Queen Rock Montreal is the long-delayed official release of the soundtrack to the We Will Rock You concert video, capturing highlights from the group's two-night stand at the Montreal Forum on November 24 and 25, 1981. This double-disc contains the full set, including the previously unreleased "Flash" and "The Hero," and it benefits from the ebb and flow of a full concert, giving a broader, fuller sense of Queen at the peak of their power, which they were close to being at the time this was recorded…

In one regard, Queen II does indeed provide more of the same thing as on the band's debut. Certainly, of all the other albums in Queen's catalog it bears the closest resemblance to its immediate predecessor, particularly in its lean, hard attack and in how it has only one song that is well-known to listeners outside of their hardcore cult: in this case, it's "Seven Seas of Rhye," which is itself more elliptical than "Keep Yourself Alive," the big song from the debut. But these similarities are superficial and Queen II is a very different beast than its predecessor, an album that is richer, darker, and weirder, an album that finds Queen growing as a band by leaps and bounds.

On a riverbank in Kenya, Africa, a seemingly ordinary giant fig tree and the tiny fig wasp differ in size a billion times over, but neither could exist without the other. Their extraordinary relationship is a marvel of co-evolution, a marriage which has lasted for millennia. It forms the basis of a complex web of dependency that supports entire ecosystems, providing food for thousands of creatures, from elephants, giraffes, and fruit bats, to forest hornbills, monkeys, insects, and fish. Each individual fig is a infinitesimal microcosm of life: a stage set for birth, sex and death, in which the tiny fig wasp players battle against predators and parasites to fulfill their mission, which is to pollinate a tree whose flowers bloom inside its fruit.

Queen ruled the airwaves of the 70's and 80's with their showy pomp-rock, packing out stadiums and storming the charts. Their elaborately-produced records were matched only by the showmanship of legendary frontman Freddie Mercury, whose swagger and vocal gymnastics were perfectly matched by Brian May’s overdubbed guitar. Over their career, Queen achieved six platinum records and eight gold, with hits including “We Are the Champions”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Will Rock You” and “Under Pressure”. The band’s reign of the charts came to an abrupt end in 1991 with the tragic death of Mercury. The surviving members have since toured the world with a number of guest vocalists, and their place in rock history cemented in 2001 when Queen were indicted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Queen II is the second studio album by the British rock band Queen. It was released on 8 March 1974 by EMI Records at midnight in the UK and by Elektra Records in the US. It was recorded at Trident Studios and Langham 1 Studios, London, in August 1973 with co-producers Roy Thomas Baker and Robin Geoffrey Cable, and engineered by Mike Stone. Described as "arguably the heaviest Queen album", Queen II is notable for its combination of a heavy rock sound with an art rock sensibility and has been called "a pillar of grandiose, assaultive hard rock" by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Chronicle of Nine: The Tragedy of Queen Jane is in the copious tradition of operas about thrones and those who jockey around them: in this case concerning the character of Lady Jane Grey (ca. 1537–1554), whose marriage and ascendancy were arranged more or less in spite of her, and who was overthrown and ultimately condemned by the forces of the (rightful) Mary (Tudor).
