This wide-ranging project features new versions of many of Henry Mancini's best-known soundtrack compositions in celebration of what would have been his 100th birthday. Mancini was nothing if not supremely adaptable in his music and television score work. He composed slinky, seductive private eye music like his footfall theme to the television series Peter Gunn, which is here given a jazzy, funky treatment courtesy of Quincy Jones, John Williams, Herbie Hancock and Arturo Sandoval. His supremely cool-tempoed title theme for Blake Edwards' 1963 comedy The Pink Panther is perhaps the most famous example of Mancini's pioneering incorporation of jazz into film music. The imaginative combo of Lizzo and Sir James Galway, both playing flute, team with a brassy studio band for a version that adheres to the contours of the original. Snarky Puppy take the most stylistic liberties, turning "Baby Elephant Walk," composed for 1962's Hatari, into a jazz funk explosion.

Marilyn "Mandy" Rice-Davies (21 October 1944 – 18 December 2014) was a British model and showgirl best known for her association with Christine Keeler and her role in the Profumo affair, which discredited the Conservative government of British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan in 1963. A Private Eye cover at the time of Profumo had a photograph of "the lovely" Rice-Davies with the caption (without any headline or other identification), "Do you mind? If it wasn't for me – you couldn't have cared less about Rachman".[11] Rice-Davies released a 45 EP on the Ember label (EMB EP 4537) in May 1964 entitled Introducing Mandy, which included cover versions of songs such as "All I Do Is Dream of You" and "You Got What It Takes".

During a three-year bloodbath in the 1980s, private security guard Louis van Schoor killed at least 39 people in the South African city of East London. All of his victims were black. The youngest was just 12 years old. It is a killing spree that places van Schoor among the most prolific mass killers in history. He was caught and arrested in 1991, but with many of his killings signed off by local police as ‘justifiable homicides,’ he would receive a shockingly light sentence - serving only 12 years in jail.
