American expatriate Joe Dassin was one of France's most popular singers during the late '60s and '70s, initially building his name with stylized adaptations of folk and country material from his birthplace…

Henry du Mont was only French by adoption, originally coming from Liège. He was a prolific mid-17th century composer and wrote over three hundred compositions, mainly religious. His first collection of motets was published in 1652. His favourite vocal combination was the duo and half of the pieces in this collection are these. He exploits other combinations too, such as a top line, bass and upper violin part.

Maison du Duke has issued a new CD – ”Mingus Chez Duke” – to the benefit of its members. It has 20 tracks from the appearance of the Duke Ellington orchestra at Bandbox in New York Jan. 30-Feb. 9, 1953. Mingus was hired and fired by Duke in 1953. I never suspected his collaboration with Duke was documented. Quatre ans que Mandino Reinhardt ne nous avait fait la joie d’un nouvel album… c’est long quatre ans. Mais oublions cette interminable attente puisque l’élégant guitariste strasbourgeois nous présente aujourd’hui "Le Swing du Luthier", un disque auto-produit qui mériterait bien une diffusion moins confidentielle. Car l’air de rien, face à la multitude de productions estampillées "jazz manouche" actuelle, ce disque pourrait bien remettre quelques pendules à l’heure : loin des sempiternelles reprises de Minor swing…

Nouvelles Lectures Cosmopolites is a project of French composer Julien Ash, leader and only permanent member, helped by various artists. NLC combines Neo-Classical music with electronics for a unique example of modern chamber music. Piano is joined by violin, acoustic guitar, and acoustic bass plus ambient electronics and processed voices (singing and speaking).
