Rachel has presented her Latin Jazz project in many different formats since 2009 with compositions and arrangements tinted with many musical influences from different Latin-American and Caribbean countries. After living in Cuba, studying at the Instituto Supérior de Arte in Havana Cuba in 2008 and having a multitude of experiences with many latin music groups, Therrien founded her own project to play the music of the cultures she’s so passionate about.

Critically acclaimed trumpeter Rachel Therrien is thrilled to announce the March 27th release of her fifth album as a leader VENA. On her debut release for French label Bonsai Music, Therrien makes a major statement over the course of fifteen original compositions. For this momentous occasion, Therrien has assembled a quartet of first-rate European musicians including Franco-Australian pianist Daniel Gassin, Spanish bassist Dario Guibert, and German drummer Mareike Wiening. Cuban saxophonist Irving Acao joins on two tracks. Therrien will be celebrating the release of VENA at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on March 24th, at Diese Onze in Montreal on March 27th and at Studio de l’Ermitage in Paris on May 4th.

Spearheaded by trumpeter Rachel Therrien, Why Don’t You Try presents a collaborative mosaic of original music by each member of the quintet. Recorded at Montreal’s Studio 270 with technician Robert Langlois and mixed at Studio ToneBender by Olivier St-Pierre, the project presents tasty jazz-rock with creative arrangements and beautiful cohesion between the musicians. Co-produced by Rachel Therrien and Kim Neundorf for Free Run Artists Productions, Why Don’t You Try features the sound of Simon Pagé’s groovy electric bass, Charles Trudel’s virtuoso piano, Alain Bourgeois’s energetic drums, Benjamin Deschamps’s inventive saxophone, and Rachel Therrien’s inspired trumpet. Why Don’t You Try is woven of bold musical proposals, great moments of improvisation and a sympathetic humoristic touch.

Vocalist Will Clements explores the themes of love through a queer lens on his third album, COMPASS. Having spent significant time in Montreal, Paraguay, and Vancouver, Clements brings influences from these cities into a new collection of compositions and arrangements, ranging from traditional swing music to South American-inspired sounds.

"I like to base my music on important events or people who impact my life. The music of Wayne Shorter, Coltrane, Scofield, Jim Hall, and many more inspire me to play. I guess the best way to describe my music is quirky, lush, bluesy and meaningful." Born and raised in New York, Kevin began his musical studies on guitar when he was 18 years old. While attending the State University of New York at New Paltz, Kevin began to take an interest in jazz. He pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies studying with Mark Dziuba, Vinnie Martucci, John Menegon, and Jeff "Siege" Siegel. After graduating, he started his career as a sound engineer at the ShapeShifter Lab in Brooklyn, NY, where he studies with bass virtuoso Matthew Garrison.
