Applications of Random Matrices in Physics

Applications of Random Matrices in Physics by Édouard Brézin, Vladimir Kazakov, Didina Serban, Paul Wiegmann, Anton Zabrodin
English | PDF | 2006 | 518 Pages | ISBN : 1402045298 | 7.1 MB

Random matrices are widely and successfully used in physics for almost 60-70 years, beginning with the works of Dyson and Wigner. Although it is an old subject, it is constantly developing into new areas of physics and mathematics. It constitutes now a part of the general culture of a theoretical physicist. Mathematical methods inspired by random matrix theory become more powerful, sophisticated and enjoy rapidly growing applications in physics. Recent examples include the calculation of universal correlations in the mesoscopic system, new applications in disordered and quantum chaotic systems, in combinatorial and growth models, as well as the recent breakthrough, due to the matrix models, in two dimensional gravity and string theory and the non-abelian gauge theories. The book consists of the lectures of the leading specialists and covers rather systematically many of these topics. It can be useful to the specialists in various subjects using random matrices, from PhD students to confirmed scientists.

The Parabolic Anderson Model Random Walk in Random Potential by Wolfgang König
English | PDF | 2016 | 199 Pages | ISBN : 3319335952 | 2.48 MB

This is a comprehensive survey on the research on the parabolic Anderson model – the heat equation with random potential or the random walk in random potential – of the years 1990 – 2015. The investigation of this model requires a combination of tools from probability (large deviations, extreme-value theory, e.g.) and analysis (spectral theory for the Laplace operator with potential, variational analysis, e.g.).

Random Matrices, Random Processes and Integrable Systems by John Harnad
English | PDF | 2011 | 536 Pages | ISBN : 1441995137 | 6.3 MB

This book explores the remarkable connections between two domains that, a priori, seem unrelated: Random matrices (together with associated random processes) and integrable systems. The relations between random matrix models and the theory of classical integrable systems have long been studied. These appear mainly in the deformation theory, when parameters characterizing the measures or the domain of localization of the eigenvalues are varied. The resulting differential equations determining the partition function and correlation functions are, remarkably, of the same type as certain equations appearing in the theory of integrable systems. They may be analyzed effectively through methods based upon the Riemann-Hilbert problem of analytic function theory and by related approaches to the study of nonlinear asymptotics in the large N limit. Associated with studies of matrix models are certain stochastic processes, the "Dyson processes", and their continuum diffusion limits, which govern the spectrum in random matrix ensembles, and may also be studied by related methods.

Random Processes with Applications to Circuits and Communications

Random Processes with Applications to Circuits and Communications by Bernard C. Levy
English | EPUB | 2020 | 467 Pages | ISBN : 3030222969 | 24.14 MB

This textbook is based on 20 years of teaching a graduate-level course in random processes to a constituency extending beyond signal processing, communications, control, and networking, and including in particular circuits, RF and optics graduate students. In order to accommodate today’s circuits students’ needs to understand noise modeling, while covering classical material on Brownian motion, Poisson processes, and power spectral densities, the author has inserted discussions of thermal noise, shot noise, quantization noise and oscillator phase noise.

Eric Random is a key figure in the early Eighties music scene in Manchester that evolved around the Buzzcock’s New Hormones label and later around Cabaret Voltaire’s Doublevision. This is the last album by Eric ecorded with his original group, The Bedlamites. It was originally released by FON Records in 1986 and came with a stunning sleeve design by The Designers Republic. After Time-Splice which was heavy electronics and produced by Cabaret Voltaire, Eric took the Bedlamites into a new direction. Ishmael is heavily influenced by world music, mostly Arabian sounds, and was produced by Robert Gordon and The Bedlamites themselves.

Intuitive Probability and Random Processes Using MATLAB® by Steven M. Kay
English | PDF(True) | 2006 | 838 Pages | ISBN : 0387241574 | 81.9 MB

Intuitive Probability and Random Processes using MATLAB® is an introduction to probability and random processes that merges theory with practice. Based on the author’s belief that only "hands-on" experience with the material can promote intuitive understanding, the approach is to motivate the need for theory using MATLAB examples, followed by theory and analysis, and finally descriptions of "real-world" examples to acquaint the reader with a wide variety of applications. The latter is intended to answer the usual question "Why do we have to study this?" Other salient features are:
