Fools Garden is a German musical group formed in 1991, initially named after Fool's Garden, an album recorded by Freudenthaler and Hinkel. Thomas Mangold, Roland Röhl and Ralf Wochele joined the band shortly afterwards and Once in a Blue Moon was released by the complete band in 1993. In 1995, the band released Dish of the Day which gained popularity in Europe and Asia as it included "Lemon Tree", the band's most successful single to date, reaching #1 in Germany and other countries. Following the success of Dish of the Day, the band released three more albums, Go And Ask Peggy For The Principal Thing (1997), For Sale (2000) and 25 Miles to Kissimmee (2003) in their original line-up with little commercial success.

Willie Mitchell really was the Memphis music everything man, a record executive and producer, a studio manager and a band leader. This collection pulls together some of his best 1960's Hi releases, split between originals and contemporary 60's soul hits. Every musician is putting in a full shift, and the quality of these tracks never drops, the music really cooks. Mostly instrumentals but with one or two chanted vocals, the compilation includes the mighty 'The Champion' which must be a contender for the greatest ever Northern Soul instrumental stomper. The majority of the tracks are pure 1960's Memphis R&B and I suppose the nearest comparison band wise is with Booker T & the MG's but the horns on these Willie Mitchell tracks gives them a dimension that the MG's records don't have. Sound quality on all the tracks is excellent; unlike some budget complilatons time has been spent mastering these tracks properly.

Who today has heard of Max d'Ollone? He studied with Massenet, was a contemporary of Richard Strauss, composed operas and cultivated a sensuous and deeply Romantic approach to vocal music. The Prix de Rome competition gave him the opportunity to compose several impressive cantatas and pieces for chorus and orchestra, characterised by a combination of grandeur and refinement.
