This two-CD set adds unreleased tracks to what was already a superb representation of Tony Bennett's art, the 1962 concert catching Bennett at an early peak in his career.
With his simple, accessible sound and signature laid-back style, JIMMY REED was just about the most commercially successful Blues artist in the USA during the 50s and 60s.
Subtitled 'Savage Garage Punk From Valhalla 1964-1968', this set comprises SIX CD's chock full of killer '60s garage rock, freakbeat and '60s punk from Scandinavia's most savage combos! Featured bands include The Holders, Gaggas, 1-2-6, Gonks, The Deejays, The Beatmakers, Firebeats Inc., Thors Hammer, The Kingbeats, The Namelosers, Tages, The Shanes, Jackie Fountains, The Cads, Stamping Bricks, The Hitmakers, The Telstars, The Friends, The Walkers, We 4, The Cherry Stones and many more.
Although Boito's Mefistofele has some wonderful music in it, it really neads a strong cast–particularly in the title role–to make it work. The opera fades from view, only to be periodically rediscovered from time to time when an opera company wants to show off a stellar bass-baritone. Today, Samuel Ramey is the most famous interpreter of the role, and deservedly so…
I really just wanted to buy It's the Talk of the Town as a single download but could not find the song anywhere except as part of a CD. The CD actually had 2 albums in it - It's the Talk of the Town and Young at Heart. Ray Conniff music is one of those old time groups that had a distinctive sound.
Whoever thought of putting together the 'oldies' albums , (under the brand name of 'Collectables'), as one joint collection in a cd, honestly needs to be awarded a prize. This is one of Ray Conniff's finest contributions to the music of the 70's era. The mellow, refreshing voices of the Ray Conniff Singers & the superb clarity of sound lend a special blend of irresistable charm to this CD.
One of the talented musical arrangers is Ray Conniff, hands down in my opinion. This collection proves that in these selections of songs popular in the early 1970s. I especially enjoyed his renditions of Dueling Voices and the theme from 2001:A Space Odyssey! A nice two fer set of Conniff's best!
This fine twofer CD has all the songs from two of Ray Conniff's outstanding record albums entitled "Turn Around Look at Me" and "I Love How You Love Me." That Ray Conniff chorus never sounded better and it's amazing how well Ray, the singers and those musicians all successfully handle these renditions of classic pop vocal tunes! The quality of the sound is excellent and the artwork incorporates the original record album artwork.
