Pattern Formation in the Cerebellum

Pattern Formation in the Cerebellum by Carol Armstrong
English | PDF (True) | 2013 | 139 Pages | ISBN : 1615044566 | 6.52 MB

Pattern formation has fascinated biologists since the time of Aristotle, but only recently have new tools begun to reveal the underlying mechanisms that create these patterns during development. In particular, the central nervous system is dynamically patterned and highly modular, ranging from nuclear cell clusters in the brain stem and spinal cord to the elaborate cytoarchitecture of the neocortex. Similar developmental processes divide brain structures such as the cerebral cortex, basal ganglia, superior colliculus, and cerebellum into these sub-compartments. The way neural modules form and the mechanisms that establish connectivity between these modules is one of the most complex problems in neuroscience and also one of the most important. This monograph focuses on pattern formation in the developing cerebellum.

Exploration of Host Genetic Factors associated with Malaria by Tabish Qidwai
English | PDF | 2021 | 174 Pages | ISBN : 9813347600 | 4.6 MB

This book is aimed to cover the role of genetic polymorphisms in human genes related to RBC disorders, metabolic enzymes, immune response, and cytoadherence in the susceptibility/resistance to malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum. The chapters provide current information on the balancing trait and the significance of such traits in the malaria resistance.

Complement Activation in Malaria Immunity and Pathogenesis by José A. Stoute
English | PDF,EPUB | 2018 | 154 Pages | ISBN : 3319772570 | 19.36 MB

Plasmodium falciparum malaria is responsible for the deaths of nearly 500,000 people each year. Much attention has been paid to antibody and cellular mechanisms of immunity against this pathogen. By contrast, the role that the complement system plays in immunity and pathogenesis in this infection is not very well recognized or understood. Based on the work of a number of research groups, we know that complement plays an important role in these processes.
