Mood Six were a so-called neo-psychedelic band formed in London's West End in 1981. Emerging from the remnants of punk bands (Security Risk ), mod revival groups like The Merton Parkas and the VIPs and R'n'B combo The Assets. their original lineup included Phil Ward, Tony Conway, Andy Godfrey, Guy Morley, Paul Shurey, and Simon Smith. This double cd anthology features their three albums: The Difference Is…", "A Matter of.." and "And This Is It" alongside with singles,b-sides, rariities and two brand new songs.

Yet another New Order compilation? Add Retro to the dizzying stack of New Order compilations and best-ofs. Actually, it was the second comp to come out in the last half of 2002 (International was released in October and contains nearly every song that is on Retro). With that said, Retro is probably the most expansive and interesting New Order compilation since 1987's Substance. Keeping an eye and ear on the amazing Joy Division set Heart and Soul, Rhino stepped in to publish this box as well (that alone will give Retro a bit more credibility). The packaging is more or less identical to Heart and Soul's four-CD orientation and comes complete with its own Peter Saville-directed artwork and 70-plus-page booklet. One of the most formidable fretless electric bassists in the post-Jaco Pastorius era, Texas native and current Barcelona resident Gary Willis joins forces with Catalan keyboardist Albert Bover and Budapest-born drummer Gergo Borlai on this exhilarating take on the electric piano trio.

Going by the title, the Retro: Active series from Canada's Hi-Bias label sounds like it could be a nightmare of new wave and '80s-alternative singles remixed by modern producers to put a new spin on old favorites. Thankfully, the label has simply plucked extended versions and remixes from previously existing 12" singles - like the ones you might have sitting in your closet, or the ones you heard in clubs or even on the radio.

2014 collection from the Swedish band. The Shanes - alongside Hep Stars, Ola & Janglers and Tages - were one of Sweden's big four '60s bands. More than a Swedish Yardbirds, from roughly hewn R&B to pop, they retained an edge which always thrilled. They had the longest hair of any of Sweden's bands and were dubbed 'degenerate' by the Swedish press. LET THEM SHOW YOU: THE ANTHOLOGY 1964-67 takes it's picks from The Shanes' golden years, from 1964's growling 'Let Me Show You Who I Am' to the classic pop of 1967's Abbey Road-recorded 'Chris Craft No. 9'. This release is the first Shanes collection to be issued outside Sweden.
