Following the critical and commercial success of composer and instrumentalist Luke Howard’s, Open Heart Story, and its subsequent companion EP, More Heart Stories, Mercury KX/Universal Music Canada is excited to announce the release of Luke’s new album The Sand That Ate The Sea. The video was filmed in the remote outback town of Andamooka (South Australia), the striking visuals resonating powerfully with Luke’s emotive string and piano arrangements alongside guitar by Leonard Grigoryan and celestial vocals from Shards (Erased Tapes) and fellow Australian Lior.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a 2016 fantasy action film directed by David Yates and written by J. K. Rowling (in her screenwriting debut), based on Rowling’s book of the same name. Aspin-off and a prequel of the Harry Potter film series, the film will be the first installment of a trilogy, and stars Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Colin Farrell, Carmen Ejogo, Samantha Morton, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman and Jon Voight.

The Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, born in 1935, has succeeded in bringing sacred music back to a broader audience, and away from the confines of the church service, more than almost any other contemporary composer.

One of Germany's most successful pop singers during the 1970s and '80s, Howard Victor Carpendale was born on January 14, 1946 in Durban, South Africa. Howie, as he is affectionately known, was working as an Elvis impersonator when he relocated to Europe in 1966, settling first in the U.K. He moved to Germany in 1969 when he was offered a recording contract with Electrola Records, having success right out of the gate that year on the German pop charts with a cover of the Beatles' "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da." Carpendale was unable to follow up on that success, however, and his stay with Electrola was over by the early '70s.

The piano remained the main instrument of Beethoven throughout his life, and this specially priced 4-CD box set represents his entire and sizeable output for piano and orchestra, starting with the early Piano Concerto in E flat,

In All of Us, Howard’s sonic compositions become a musical language through which he responds to the calamities and destruction of the contemporary world — not reflecting or mirroring them, but speaking to them and illuminating the aural sensations they produce. There are moments in All of Us where it’s clear that Howard has scored music for films, with sweeping orchestral crescendos that could be used to mark visual denouements in works of combat cinema (for example, in the fourth track An Hour Off For Friendship). Yet largely, the tracks are bound by their collective sense of unease and our shared sense of precarity.

James Newton Howard is currently scoring the upcoming fantasy adventure The Huntsman. The film is a prequel/spin-off to the 2012 feature Snow White and the Huntsman and is directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan who served as the visual effect supervisor on Rupert Sanders’ original movie and makes his feature directorial debut with the project. Chris Hemsworth returns to star in the title role and is joined by returning cast members Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin and Nick Frost, as well as new additions Emily Blunt, Jessica Chastain, Colin Morgan, Sheridan Smith, Rob Brydon and Alexandra Roach. No plot details have been announced yet. Joe Roth who has worked with Howard on films including Maleficent, Freedomland, America’s Sweethearts and The Great Debaters returns as the producer. The composer has previously scored the 2012 original film, on which he also collaborated with Florence + The Machine for an end titles song.
