Fresh, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Quik, Dru Down, and Chuck D, along with guitar shedder Buckethead join a Bootsy-curated posse of fresh new artists on a record that embraces everything from the classic P-Funk sound Bootsy pioneered to the closest Collins has ever come to radio-active, boots on the ground friendly fire in a musical-P-rated-adventure.

405 miles later, Corrie met Norman in Glasgow. they drove a further 145 miles to Aberdeen to board the 14-hour ferry across the North Sea to the Shetland Islands, Norman’s childhood home. Three weeks were spent learning traditional tunes from people in person and from the ghosts of archival tapes. these melodies were then worked like clay from the banks of the burn, shaped into the album we present to you.

In their early days, The Specials were protest song incarnate. Their very multicultural make-up was a confrontational statement to audiences infested with National Front thugs. Since their self-titled 1979 debut album, tracks tackling racism, war, unemployment and national decay helped make them one of the most vital and socially progressive bands of their age. Their 2019 reunion album ‘Encore’ pulled few punches too: Black Lives Matter, Windrush, racial integration and gang violence all came in for The Specials’ uniquely incisive treatment.
