This collection, remastered for SACD, covers the Zombies' short and tasteful career, spanning their 1964-1967 years for Decca Records, and their single album, the classic Odessey & Oracle, for Epic Records in 1968. Two versions of "She's Not There" are included here, one the so-called "stereo underdub" version that lacks the snappy drum overdub that gives the superior single version its crisp, edgy feel. There are also two mixes of "Time of the Season," the familiar version and an alternate mix that features a little more organ in the verse sections.

NB Ultra Extended Playing Time - This product can only be played on a machine with SACD capability (super audio single layer). It cannot be played on a conventional CD player. This pioneering recording, which was first released in 1995 as a set of four conventional CDs, contains the complete solo lute pieces ascribed to John Dowland. As opposed to the composer’s lute songs and instrumental dances, which Dowland himself carefully prepared for publication, his lute solos have survived in much less reliable versions. Jakob Lindberg, lute professor at the Royal College of Music, brought all of his expertise to bear in preparing the scores and choosing among variant versions for his recordings, and also wrote the informative liner notes included in this edition.

Vladimir Ashkenazy's recording career spans almost four decades, beginning in the heyday of LP and now encompassing the arrival of the latest audio disc technology, SACD. For his first SACD release on Decca, the great Russian pianist returns to his beloved Chopin with a program framed by two of the composer's greatest works, the Fourth Ballade and the Barcarolle. And, for the first time, Ashkenazy's Chopin can be enjoyed in four-channel SACD surround sound. This solo recital also demonstrates the advantages that SACD surround sound can bring to a solo piano recording ­ greater clarity and fidelity of piano sound, but also a compelling immediacy that brings the listener 'into the presence' of the actual performance.
