'Starwalker' is a collection of the very best of new Australian music written for the captivating pairing of guitar and piano. In this unique collection, celebrated guitarist Matt Withers and ARIA Award-winning pianist Sally Whitwell use the power and delicacy of their instruments to showcase the beauty and expressiveness of the music. Inspired by the album cover image ('Outback', by Queensland visual artist Sue Needham), the music incorporates a bird's-eye view of the Australian landscape, evoking the natural beauty, fragility and breadth of country in a spirit of warmth and tenderness.

It’s the humour that hits first. Just after the lowdown twang of Roy Payne’s baritone guitar sets the sleazy and mean tone on title-track opener ‘Hully Gully,’ the gallows wit follows: “They try to tell you dreams come true they lie until you’re black and blue,“ and a sort of grimy, rockabilly blues dance tune plays through its wry detail. You could describe the sound of this album as that of a tough, melodic, rootsy, guitar driven combo focused on the presentation and performance of the song. Of course that’d reduce it to another worthy roots offering lost in an ocean of roots worthiness. And it would miss the power of the Suave Fucks, Walker’s delightfully named band, and the power of his songs.

“WWIII” marks Walker’s third collaboration with 4-time Grammy winning producer Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell), on the heels of two trailblazing albums that shook the country music world to its core: debut album “Redneck Shit” and “Ol’ Wheeler.”
