Matt Costa knows it's been a minute five years, in fact since his last album. But he was hardly dormant during the interim leading up to Santa Rosa Fangs, whose first single, "I Remember It Well," is premiering exclusively below. Costa filled the time with a variety of projects, including scoring the film Orange Sunshine and releasing some independent EPs. "I spent some time developing some more aspects of my craft," Costa tells Billboard, "studying different styles and learning things writing techniques, literary techniques all of that just to make things more impactful. And then everything came together within the last year and a half or so."

The Cantigas de Santa Maria come from the imposing collection of the court of Alfonso X el Sabio, which offers us one of the most precious sources of mediaeval Spanish music. The Cantigas take us to the end of the Reconquista of the Iberian peninsula and to the very heart of the culture where Christian, Muslim and Jewish traditions mingle.

Massimo La Rosa joined The Cleveland Orchestra as principal trombone in September 2007. He made his solo debut with the Orchestra in a gala concert in October 2011 performing Ferdinand David’s Trombone Concertino under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst. He was named “New Artist of the Month” by Musical America following the release of his solo recording, Cantando.

Intanto il gesuita padre Cascini, ignaro di questo legame speciale, è impegnato nell’“ideuzza” di dotare santa Rosalia di una genealogia illustre che la faccia discendere da Carlo Magno, per renderla accetta alla nobiltà e all’alto clero. E scomoda per la sua iconografia nientemeno che il fiammingo van Dyck..
