For her tenth Deutsche Grammophon release, pianist Alice Sara Ott returns to the music of Frédéric Chopin. She approaches Chopin’s 24 Préludes op. 28 from a fresh perspective, finding a personal thread that parallels the music’s dramatic arc and wide-ranging moods. The pianist frames the Préludes within a contemporary context by interspersing them with seven works by 20th- and 21st-century composers.

Sara Bareilles’ singer-songwriter and acting sides both get a workout this month. On May 6, she debuts on Peacock’s “Girls5eva,” a Tina Fey-executive-produced comedy about a late-’90s girl group whose 40-something members reunite after their ancient hit gets sampled in a hip-hop song.

She was taught by Liszt in Weimar, and as one of Norway’s most respected composer-pianists, created a large body of work that displays colorful stylistic variety and poetic breadth.The beautiful Sérénade from Trois Morceaux, Op. 15 may well be Backer Grøndahl’s most popular piano composition, but her Concert Etudes are virtuoso masterpieces – the folk-tune arrangements drawn from her Op. 30 and Op. 33 sets illustrate her perceptive absorption of her country’s folk music. The remarkable fairy-tale Suite I blaafjellet, Op. 44 is possibly the first impressionist piece by a Norwegian composer.

Sara is very excited to announce that her new CD, Where Song Was Born : 24 Australian Bird Portraits by Edward Cowie for flute and piano, recorded with pianist Roderick Chadwick, will be officially released on the Metier, Divine Arts label , on 11th March 2022.
