Original Jefferson Starship bandmembers Marty Balin, Jack Casady, and Paul Kantner were back with some songs about the millennium, protests, and life in general on 1999's Windows of Heaven. Guest vocalist Grace Slick, who sings on one track, makes the album almost a full-scale reunion. New bandmates Prairie Prince (the Tubes) and T. Lavitz (Dixie Dregs, Jazz Is Dead) add even more spice to the mix, as the offshoot of one of San Francisco's finest '60s psychedelic bands prepared itself for the 21st century…
Ignore who is making this album. Strip it all away and the first song “It’s About Time” would be just about one of the finest that anyone has released this year…
Reflection is also-ran late-'60s British blues-rock, with more rock-oriented takes on the kind of approach used by heroes Freddie King and B.B. King. B.B. King's "You'll Never Know," in fact, is covered here, though most of the material was penned by the band. Steamhammer doesn't put much of an original spin on its sources, or on the British blues-rock form, though this is competent and does generally have a moodier, more downbeat feel than most of the band's competition in the genre. The expressive qualities of Kieran White's voice, though, are limited, as though he's being pinched by something that keeps him from letting go too much…

BLUE FLOYD endeavors to deconstruct the classic compositions of the legendary PINK FLOYD into their primal, elemental form. As much an homage to the influence of Howlin' Wolf, Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters as a rediscovery of both FLOYD classics and rarities, BLUE FLOYD plays iconoclastically familiar songs, heard again as if for the first time…
Foreigner achieved massive success on a global scale during the Seventies and Eighties thanks to a long list of hit singles and sold-out tours. Today, the group's sales exceed 80 million records, a figure that places Foreigner among the best-selling bands of all time. Their classic songs continue to resonate with fans in the modern era, having just recently received RIAA gold and platinum awards for digital sales on six of their iconic rock anthems…
Capricorn Records, having switched distribution from Warner Brothers to Phondisc, was on its way out by the time it released this, its sixth Elvin Bishop album, which may help explain why, only two years after he was in the Top 10 with "Fooled Around And Fell In Love," he didn't even reach the charts with this album…
Another act involving Harri Stojka. The "Gipsy Love" band seems to have been the starting point for many other careers, including those of Karl Ratzer, Peter Wolf, and Richard Schönherz. Karl Ratzer (guitar) and Harri Stojka (bass with Gipsy Love) are cousins, both of Roma ancestry, which may explain the bands' name…
