As of mid-2018, the Ozrics are on hiatus, and the fate of the band is uncertain. Bandleader and chief composer Ed Wynne returned to England to record a studio album, and Ozric tour dates have ceased. Beyond that, not much else is known. Outside of a core group of listeners, usually decades-long fans, the comings and goings of this instrumental group have never been much of a buzz generator - even at the band's inception 35 years ago, Ozric Tentacles were something of an anachronism. Unwaveringly championing elements of Gong, Hawkwind, Mahavishnu Orchestra, mixed in with splashes and textures of reggae, electronica, and psytrance, it is no surprise that many of the group's fans are older than the band members themselves…
DISEN GAGE is a unique mixture of various genres of instrumental music , including fripp-rock, progressive, fusion, world-music,psychedelic and improvised spots.Formed in 1999,the duo-guitar quartet (Yuri Alaverdyan and Konstantin Mochalov - guitars, Nikolay Syrtsev - bass and later Eugeniy Kudryashov - drums) gained popularity in intellectual and student's communities…
This is one of those cd's which will blow you socks off and give those who have never really heard them a great introduction. This set list is full of their classics with some nice variations. The highlights for me are "Radioactive Toy" and "Waiting" both tracks words can not describe…
Album number four for the frenetic and unpredictable Italian fusion band Accordo dei Contrari, and 2017's `Violato Intatto' is their most varied and volatile work to date! To call AdC a jazz-fusion band would be doing them a bit of a disservice, as they travel much further than that by incorporating everything from Rock-in-Opposition/Avant textures, ambient interludes, brief cinematic Post-Rock flirtations and a touch of Canterbury-styled jazzy waftings…
Celebrated Greek progressive psych band NAXATRAS have awoken once again with a mesmerising new album IV. It sees the band move away from their traditional analogue trademarked sound to something more precise and multilevelled. This has given them the ability to explore the outer limits of their psychedelic world, allowing for the band to expand from a trio to a quartet with the recruitment of keyboardist Pantelis Kargas…
This French group was founded on the Riviera (Nice more precisely) as had SHYLOCK also. They both managed to make two albums both on the Musea catalogue nowadays. However they do sound different, CARPE DIEM sounding more diversified and also holds some singing, as well as some wind instruments (flute & saxes)…
Maat Lander is a new instrumental Space Rock trio that brings together members of two of my favorite R.A.I.G. label bands: Ilya Lipkin of The Re-Stoned (guitar, mandola), and brothers Arkadiy (keys, synths, bass) and Ivan (drums, percussion) Fedotov of Vespero. This 10 track set is a winner from start to finish, with tracks in the 4-9 minute range…
From Japan, an already consecrated prog state of art, comes - close in modern, alternative and resonating times - the band NAIKAKU (full name is Naikaku-No-Wa, with the meaning of Internal Nuclear Tide). At first Satoshi Kobayashi (bass) and Kazumi Suzuki (flute) formed the band, in mid-1998, and initiated their music, but eventually the lineup grew towards an eclectic sextet, drummer Norimitsu Endo, guitarist and trumpeter Mitsuo Muraoka, flutist Naoko Higashi and guitarist Kei Fushimi joining…
