Robert Plant opens Carry Fire with "The May Queen," a song that can't help but stir up memories of "Stairway to Heaven," the most mystical number Led Zeppelin ever cut. "The May Queen" doesn't sound a thing like "Stairway to Heaven," which is deliberate. As Plant murmurs about "the dimming of his light," the churning folk-rock – a rootless, restless gypsy hybrid of American, English, and Middle East traditions – comes to crest upon a violin line that appears to quote "Prodigal Son," a gospel blues attributed to Robert Wilkins. It's hard not to read this as a sly wink to the audience, a suggestion that Plant, after years of rambling, has returned to where he belongs.
Robert Plant launched the Digging Deep podcast in 2019 as a way for him to explore the intricacies and oddities of his body of work. A year later, he released Digging Deep: Subterranea, a double-disc deep dive that effectively functions as a soundtrack to the podcast. Plant talks about Led Zeppelin tunes on Digging Deep but Subterranea pointedly concentrates on his solo career. It's a compilation that strives to make overarching connections, so it doesn't proceed in a chronological order, nor does it have all of his hits. Neither his oldies folly The Honeydrippers or Raising Sand, his Grammy-winning collaboration with Alison Krauss, are here, nor are there big rock radio hits like "Little By Little" and "Tall Cool One." Instead, Digging Deep: Subterranea places 1993's Fate Of Nations at the forefront and follows its strands front and back, creating a moody, adventurous bit of autobiography. Maybe it doesn't deliver the hits the way most compilations do but it certainly captures the musical wanderlust that defines Plant's career.

Raise the Roof is the second collaborative studio album by British singer-songwriter Robert Plant and American bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss. The album is scheduled to be released on November 19, 2021, by Rounder Records and Concord Records. In 2007, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss released Raising Sand, one of the most acclaimed albums of the 21st Century, which reached #2 on the UK album chart, generated multi-platinum sales, and earned six Grammy Awards including Album and Record of the Year. It was an unlikely, mesmerizing pairing of one of rock's greatest frontmen with one of country music's finest and most honored artists. Now, after 14 years, they return with Raise the Roof, 12 songs from a range of traditions and styles that extend this remarkable collaboration in new and thrilling directions.
Blues guitarist/singer from Bath in the UK, played guitar in Robert Plant's band from 1993-1994. Recorded seven cd's on various blues label with his own band opening for Johnny Winter, Peter Green, The fabulous thunderbirds, Steve Cropper, Ronnie Earl, Taj Mahal etc. Innes Sibun plays high-energy Blues with intense passion, and he's done so from the tender age of 12 after hearing the B.B. King's Live At The Regal. Today Sibun's blistering, straightforward guitar artistry and raggedly sincere vocals at times recall the great Rory Gallagher. Mike Vernon (legendary producer of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton as well as all of the Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac albums) recorded Sibun's debut album.
