When she delivered Box, Sam Brown had long since disappeared from the pop spotlight. It was nearly ten years since the hit single "Stop," and while she had continued to tour and record, her audience had shrunk substantially. That's too bad, because Box is arguably her best effort yet. Brown has always been a fine vocalist, but her material can be uneven. As Box illustrates, she's developed into a first-rate songwriter, capable of crafting melodic, memorable songs with true emotion and depth. It's mature pop with many layers and levels, and while that may limit its audience, those that want to seek it out will be pleasantly surprised by the strength of Box.

Brown's third studio album, 43 Minutes…, was made around the same time that her mother was dying from breast cancer. A&M, Brown's record label at the time were not satisfied with the album and wanted some potential hit singles recorded and added to the track listing. Brown, unwilling to compromise and after a protracted legal battle, bought back the master recordings of the album and released them in 1992 on her own label Pod Music, a year after the death of her mother. The album has become a firm favourite with fans who cite it as her strongest album in her portfolio.

"The Kissing Gate" is the first compilation album by U.K. singer-songwriter Sam Brown. This album includes tracks from first two solo albums of the singer - "Stop!" and "April Moon". Great things have been predicted for British vocalist and keyboardist Sam Brown. Her debut album, Stop!, released in 1987, reached the Top Four on the British music charts, sold more than two-and-a-half million copies, and included two hit singles, "Stop" and "This Feeling." Brown, however, has failed to match the album's success with her subsequent releases April Moon, 43 Minutes, The Kissing Game, and Box. The daughter of classical vocalist Vicki Brown, Brown began her musical career at the age of 12 when she sang background vocals on the Small Faces' album 78 in the Shade. By the age of 20, she had sung with Steve Marriott, Sade, Spandau Ballet, and Barclay James Harvest.

Sam's fifth album "ReBoot" was released in the UK on the 25th September 2000 and it's a wonderful album, diverse and very original, with plenty of nice surprises, contemporary production, faultless musicianship and of course Sam's remarkable voice as expressive as ever. It ranks alongside Sam's best ever work.
