Creating complex hard-surface objects using subdivision surfaces (SDS) can often be a tricky and time-consuming ordeal, although this does not necessarily have to be the case. In this intermediate to advanced level tutorial, we'll be using Modo 302's feature-rich toolset to accurately model the cell phone, resulting in an object that is almost entirely SDS.

Silver Cell is an experimental horror film filled with symbolic imagery, strange visions, and clues from the words of TS Eliot. The story focuses on the life of recent suicide victim Angela. Still on life support, Angela is trapped in the "bitex," a part of the brain that lies between the cortex, which governs our actions in the real world, and the aetherial plane of the dead. Before she dies, she must travel the wasteland of the bitex, regaining memories that were lost when she crossed over.

Producer Walter Wanger, who had just been released from a prison term after shooting a man he believed was having an affair with his wife, wanted to make a film about the appalling conditions he saw while he was incarcerated. He got together with director Don Siegel and they came up with this film, in which several prison inmates, to protest brutal guards, substandard food, overcrowding and barely livable conditions, stage an uprising, in which most of the inmates join, and take several guards hostage. Negotiations between the inmates and prison officials are stymied, however, by politicians interfering with the prison administration, and by dissension and infighting in the inmates' own ranks.
