Sharjah

This book contains select papers on rings, monoids and module theory which are presented at the 3rd International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics (AUS-ICMS 2020) held at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, from 6–9 February 2020. This conference was held in honour of the work of the distinguished algebraist Daniel D. Anderson.

Il 2 dicembre 1971, a solo qualche settimana dalla fondazione degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, il sultano Al-Qasimi divenne sovrano di Sharjah. Nel 1972, con l'aggiunta dell'ultimo emirato, i sette emirati indipendenti formarono un unico Paese guidato dallo sceicco Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, spettabile sovrano degli Emirati Arabi Uniti. Al-Qasimi era uno dei maggiori sostenitori della Federazione, spesso incaricato di risolvere le questioni interne, tra cui problematiche di carattere costituzionale e territoriale. Al-Qasimi, uomo di profonda cultura e di intenso carisma, si prodigò per favorire la fondazione di scuole e istituzioni culturali e la sua azione non fu da meno sul fronte della politica estera, con il memorabile viaggio negli Stati Uniti nel 1976, il tenace lavoro di relazione con gli altri Paesi islamici, primi tra tutti l'Iran, l'Egitto e l'Arabia Saudita..

This work presents invited contributions from the second "International Conference on Mathematics and Statistics" jointly organized by the AUS (American University of Sharjah) and the AMS (American Mathematical Society). The current volume is the first of its kind in the UAE and is intended to set new standards of excellence for collaboration and scholarship in the region.
