Swedish act Violent Silence was formed as the creative vehicle of composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer Johan Hedman. "Kinetic" is their second effort. This is the type of prog without guitar and instead the keyboards has an important role here, but don't expect something a la ELP, no, this is diffrent and is very good and original. The music is powerfull, intresting and has plenty of memorable passages, specially in pieces like Torrential Rains or Kinetic, very strong musicianship. What is intresting on this release is that they incorporated in the eclectic sound some very strong electronic keyboards, that goes very well here in this context. Quiet Stalker is a 18 min long tune with some fantastic instrumental passages, nice moods and twists here, the 2 keybordist done a very nice job, really great.
Casual Silence was founded in 1993 by three singers from different musical backgrounds. After originally starting as a rock cover band, Casual Silence soon grew into a melodic rock band with mainly her own work. The compositions, autobiographical lyrics and influences from the rock, symphonic and progressive metal, were effortlessly transformed into exciting songs with a sound of its own. In 1997 the band launched her debut album “Bad Side Memories”. With this album they also got ample opportunity to prove themselves live on the stage. In 1999 the mini-disc “Shamelessly Dressed” was released, which showed the group has developed in a versatile way. After the release of this second album, the name ‘Casual Silence’ often appears in the pop and rock magazines and the band became a well known name in the regional rock scene…
Submarine Silence is an Italian group that was born from the idea of Mellow Records owner Mauro Moroni. The group can be regarded as a side-project of the neo-progressive group Moongarden. Based on the idea of Mr. Moroni, the Moongarden keyboardist Cristiano Roversi founded the group. The group consists of Cristiano Roversi (keyboards), David Cremoni (guitars) and Emilio Pizzoccoli (drums & percussions). David Cremoni is also a member of Moongarden. Bass sounds are made by Taurus pedals. The band first appeared in a Genesis tribute "The River of Constant Change - A Tribute to Genesis". In 2001 they released the self-titled debut album. It is very Genesis inspired instrumental progressive. Even the album artwork resembles "Foxtrot" and it is by the same artist Paul Whitehead.

Violent Silence represent a playful crossover music, rich with nuance, that combine heavy propulsive rhythms with aerilly lyrical passages. All in a great number of original arrangements, frequently with different themes and rhythm patterns that are ingeniously contrasted with each other. Violent Silence clearly makes for a colorful and eventful listening experience, from a band that gives a surprisingly mature impression.

Listening to Violent Silence's third album "A Broken Truce" is like a trip down the memory lane of the early Phil Collins Era of Genesis… without Phil. It is like hearing those wonderful keyboards from Trick of the Tail, Duke, and Wind and Wuthering, set to different melodies. Hannes Ljunghall and Björn Westén's keyboards and piano will take you back to the glory days of Tony Banks from the opener "Prism Path" through to the title track, "A Broken Truce". Each track is over 10 minutes long, so do not feel cheated that there are only four tracks. Every minute of the tracks are full of excellent melody and dynamic keys.
